Parkers haven't got a review for the old ones. Anyone know anything about them? I'm interested in the 1.8 Executive model.

R reg, 95k miles. No MOT, though Thinking

He is asking £500.

I had a mazda 323 the long semi hatch back one a S reg one.

Its very reliable and it has taken my sister's abuse for the last 5 years, she doesn't do any maintenance and has crashed it (at slow speed) twice.

She uses it to blaze up and down the M6 most weekends and puts lots of miles on it , its good on fuel, but its performance is non existant since its very heavy (I nearly flipped my mazda taking a 40mph corner somewhat faster than 40mph).

The only problem was once when it needed a new suspension linkage , which cost £65 to fix. Oh and when she ran out of petrol on Snake pass, which was her fault.

Its very spacious however has various problems, if it is the estate type version is hard to find parking spaces for them in Manchester let alone london. Also the interior it terribly boring and the alloys get easily scraped due to parking difficulties (well when my sister effectively took it off me the alloys were fine they are now deeply scuffed).

Its also very hard to wash the roof if you are into that sort of thing

Also the auto choke seems to stay on for ages , and thats about it..... its sort of the NTV of cars...

Cheers man. Just phoned the bloke, it sounds good, was an ex mobility so has full Mazda history until he bought it three years ago, but still serviced at a local garage. Cambelt done at 76k.

Wa-hey! I kinda like the looks of them too, proper Japanese.

I bought the car on Saturday and despite a few niggles, I'm very happy with it. Really smooth, big boot, 4 doors, nice bit of power (1840cc), handles in a different class to all the other cheap cars I've had. There's plenty of support from a 323 forum, too. Got air con and is also very comfy. The very, very, very best bit, I've done 55 miles today, mixed roads, touching 90 at times and it's 'only' cost £6.38. Over a week, that is literally a couple of quid more than the 738cc bike I was using.

Fuck bikes.

Old coupes is where it's at.

I've been looking at Celicas, FTO's, Probes and the like and they are really cheap to buy. I imagine, like me, people are worried about the cost of running a bigger engine, but it's really NOTHING to be worried about. If I was looking again for another car, I'd snap a Celica up.

The cost of insuring an FTO is something you should worry about though Wink (hint: the slow 1.8 version is more than a UK Impreza turbo)
