I ask the questions that matter.
I wear one when commuting and it is dark, although the vest is so dirty it probably isn't any use anymore. ____________________ About me|@Major_Grooves|My company|Digg|Flickr |

If people can't see you in the dark then they are blind and shouldn't be driving. Only ever wore one once and that was when I did my cbt training. And what a darling I looked on a scoot with a bright yellow jacket on I even had to put my lights on in the day ____________________ One day i will rule the world, just not today. |

Only if i'm going far along the motorway and the likes especially if its nasty weather + got some of this https://www.aerostich.com/riderwearhouse.filereader?4061c83202fd64c2271dd1f0ec0706a6+EN/products/346 on my paniers and on the back of my helmet (fits in nicely cause its silver, doesn't look bad)
Its worth having a jacket ready if you ride in all weathers cause you can't predict when your going to be ridding through a hail storm and its worth looking daft wearing a eye hurtingly bright jackett than looking daft under the front wheel of mr volvo or mrs land rover.
But for the most part if they don't see a 2 meter late 70's bright red tank on wheels then they arent going to see you anyway.. |

Interesting to see this here, I bought one this afternoon actually.
Will be used when going to work and back in bad weather. I'd rather look stupid then not be seen. ____________________ TT600 neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeowwww! |

Korn wore one once and had his flip front helmet on while standing at the bottom of a motorway slip road pointing his gloves as passing cars.
For some reason they all slowed down rather quickly. ____________________ 20:02:36 Jammy-R6: any holes a goal

I haven't voted because my leathers have reflective patches all over them. My bike is admittedly not fuorescent, but it has good headlights and tail-light. Currently I wear a helmet with a white stripe on it, and I'm sure this makes me more visible too, but its not going to stop me from buying a black lid at the weekend! ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

It's a lot easier to see a rider with one on. You can just catch a glint out of the corner of your eye and that is enough to notice them, where as riders that don't wear them you actually have to 'look' for. I feel that I should wear one (but I too have a flourescent bike, probably more than most people!) but I wear a rucksack (yes I know that is a REALLY bad thing to do but I really dont want a tank bag or paniers!) and I think that would cover the view of the jacket from behind anyway so have never got around to buying one. ____________________ Love is 1050cc |

What's wrong with wearing a rucksack?
I almost always have a rucksack on, and yes it blocks the rear view of my vest and the straps block the reflective bits on the front, but the fluorescent bit on the front is more visible than the black leathers.
Some people say things like "I have a big yellow bike they should see me", but as Rob says it is the people who just catch you out of the corner of their eye that you are trying to get to see you. From straight on you don't see much of the profile of a bike no matter what the colour, and your chest is probably the biggest profile of bike/rider that a dozy driver is likely to see. Might as well make it as bright as possible.
On the other hand I have also heard people say that drivers get target fixation when they see something too bright in their wing mirrors and drift into it's path.
Anyway, looking cool is also important which is why I only wear it when commuting. ____________________ About me|@Major_Grooves|My company|Digg|Flickr |

Kev reckons that landing on his lunchbox (the one he keeps his sandwiches in ) was what busted his ribs when he came off.
But then Goose reckons landing on a sack full of clothes was a bonus when he stacked it.
So soft things good, hard things bad, basically. Carrying a minimoto in your rucksack is plain retarded, eh Ste? |

I have loads of reflective stuff all over my jacket. Dozy drivers are just as likely to see me wearing my jacket as they are seeing me in a fluorescent vest. And my brake light is very bright for some reason...........
