It requires a rear reflector and a legit number plate, when i bought the bike the guy gave me a number plate with a reflector on it and said I would need it for the next mot test, I'm just wondering is the reflector on the number plate enough as it is quite small but the garage I'm getting the MOT done supplied it to him for the last MOT.
Also, My ront brake failed the 25% test, so I'm gathering tit can only be either the pads or the brake cable or even the disc? anything else, the mot tester woudn't tell me what it was as I woudn't have the work done with them,

£270 for reflector, number plate(Both i have) front disc brake failing and brake lights coming on in a delay(Faulty cable).

Was I right to take it out of the garage? I got the pads for £11 and the front bake cable for £15 and as I the other I already have.

As far as i know KMX's have hydraulic front brakes so probably just needs new fluid or maybe worth bleeding it first. Who told you it was cable?

Number plate reflector will be fine, Mine passed with one reflector smaller than a 2pence piece on it.

Hi

As above, but brake could be several things.

Worn pads (but to make that much difference they would be so bad that the MOT tester would probably have advised not to ride the bike home).
Badly worn disk
Pads contaminated with oil (from a previously blown fork seal).
Caliper piston stuck.
Sliding caliper not sliding.

My first guess would be contaminated pads, followed by caliper not sliding followed by the piston.

While the fluid might need changing it is unlikely that this would cause the brakes to fail the MOT test. Old fluid collects water that boils and makes the brakes spongy with heat, but on the nominal speeds the brake rollers test the brakes at there is unlikely to be enough heat for this to be a problem.

All the best

Keith

Wow thx guys for answering my post:) wasn't expecting it, very grateful.

Ok this morning I changed the pads, whilst there inspected piston movement and old pads, old pads seemed ok but for 11 quid I don't mined. The piston moves fine when pushing front brake. I noticed there was some fluid leaking but that could have been me taking the whole brake thing of and twisting it around.

Thx for the heads up on plate and reflector, will keep u updated, On Monday I'm gonna fit the front brake cable and bleed the brakes(Change fluids etc), the reason I think it's the cable is the mot tester yours is the very old bike isn't and then said it's probaly the cable, my bike is only 7 years old i said, then he looked confused.(Reckon he thought my bike was an old C reg kmx or summit).

Had a KMX125 the very first day they were released and it was hydraulic front and rear brake, they have never been cable. Confused

i presume when he said cable he means the actualy fluid housing if you wish. the section of hollow tube which joins the lever to the calliper.

If you suspect leaking tighten any banjo bolts and brake joining bolts as tightly as possible without being silly.

Then id replace the brake fluid.

If a garage is calling a brake hose a cable they are in the wrong business! Shocked
