Sorry, not sure on specifics for helmets, but ear-plugs are well worth a look.
I got a set of custom-fit ones for abour £65 I think - incidentally on my Caberg Justissmo I had to take out a couple of ear-pads to make it comfortable.

They are on about the helmet.

I Have a caberg and i know where your coming from!

To be honest, its a pretty tough one, I also have a Nitro NV220x which is relativly quiet.

Best bets to go to a bike shop and have a look - My Caberg is in the garage at the moment, but if i remember correctly it has low/no padding at the ears.

+ 1 for earplugs. Why would you not.

Anyone that says they block out noise so you are less aware of stuff on the road has never used them. I've never had problems hearing police cars, car horns, even people shouting with them in. They block out the harmful noise, not all noise.

I know what ur sayin about earplugs. But they are so damned irritating and uncomfortable. I wanna know if there are any quiet lids out there that can stop the wind noise when ur doing about 90 down the motorways.

You want irritating and uncomfortable? Try tinnitus.

Now get some fucking earplugs and stop being such a big girl's blouse.

It was very irritating and uncomfortable wearing even my custom-made ones with my Caberg until I took the two bits of foam out (they are around the chin strap where it goes into the helmet and are obviously designed to be removed – I presume they provide a little sound-reduction themselves).
At 90mph, especially if you’re not ducked down behind a double-bubble, then you’re going to get wind-noise regardless of what helmet you’ve got.
You can get selection packs for ear-plugs so you can try out different ones and find which is the most comfortable for you, but even the custom-made option would be cheaper than buying a new helmet!

Schuberth S1 or S1 Pro these helmets operate at around 85dB @ 60mph and are reputedly the quietest helmet around. However, at 90mph there is still wind noise, though they're a lot quieter than my Nolan N84 but you still can't do a lot about wind noise other than keep out of it. A screen might help, or a correctly adjusted one, also tilting your head forward slightly might lessen the noise levels. Personally I use a Schuberth S1 in conjunction with ear-plugs, as has been said it's foolish not to, consider them the condoms of the biking world. Yes no one likes them but the alternatives are too horrible to contemplate.

If you buy a box of 200 pairs you're only looking at 11p per pair now that's cheap compared to either an S1 or hearing loss.

Most ear plugs knock out around 30-40dB and that can mean the difference between riding within safe limits and going deaf.

At 100mph wind noise will be around 120dB a 30-40 SNR plug will knock that down to 90-80dB, a human whisper is around 60dB and human speech around 80dB. Exposure to anything over 100dB for more than 20 minutes equals hearing damage. (RiDE test pdf results)

Quietest helmets out there (according to the manufacturers Confused) are Schuberth ones.

If you want to try one I suggest you have a fat wallet, they aren't cheap.

It's always annoyed me that helmets are expensive and there's no chance to try before you buy. I wouldn't buy a bike or car without trying it. I wouldn't buy a bike jacket/trousers/etc without seeing if they fit. It just doesn't seem right.

Ear plugs are so much better. First few rides with them in was strange but now even if I'm only popping to the shops and not doing over 30 I will put them in. I can still talk to my mate when I stop. Only bad thing is in petrol stations if they speak quietly.
