Think I'm gonna try stinkwheel's method of patching up the pitted forks on my GSXR, just for the MOT.

But once done (if done correctly), will I need to put gaitors on or not?

Will MOT man take one look at the araldite patches and fail it?

Just chuck gaitors over the forks anyway. Mot testers are there to inspect what they see, not poke about looking for wear and damage etc.

Ever seen a car with gaffa tape over the arches?

The araldite precision sets pretty much clear - you can't tell it's there really. You can still see the holes they're filling, but feeling them, they feel smooth.

I didn't stick gaitors on, but did turn the fork legs around so it wasn't quite so obvious (ie more likely to feel it than look at it).

Pitted fork legs aren't actually a fail. Leaky seals are.

If the seals are leaking, sorting the pits won't stop them leaking. The technique is really for fixing any pits before the seals start to leak or as a bodge in conjunction with new seals.

The seal on my fork was leaking quite bad in the end because of the pitted stanction.
I used something like araldite (cant remember what it's called) and it's been fine since Thumbs Up .
Maybe i've just been lucky.

If i were you I'd retract that post. You're admitting to bodging a fork leg then offering a 180mph superbike for sale in the same post Rolling Eyes

I did the exact same thing on my first ever car. Embarassed I was just saying, i didn't read every post you've made, all i saw was a post about (very sucsessful) bodging then an advert for a bike. If i were in the market for a litre bike I'd have been turned off that one. Thumbs Up
