Ok, to open with, I don't want any comments on "emo" or anything. I have a problem with depression/anger, and may have done a few things to myself which I ain't too proud of. But all I'm looking for here is some advice.

To progress, how do tattooists feel about covering up scars? Is it easy done? Does it turn out well?

Does anyone have scars covered by tattoos and wish to show them?

I have a few scars I want to cover up, and also I have a tattoo I really want. So I can get it done anywhere, but if I can covered the scars at the same time happy days.

Just looking for personal experiences here. Or professional criticism.

(Scars are a bit worse than pics show.)

Tattooists can hide severe burns pretty well, doubt yours will be a prob but you should really be talking to a tattooist. Thumbs Up

Yea I know a tattooist would be a lot more knowledgeable here, but internet anonymity and all lol. Also I think there are a fair few here pretty knowledgeable in tattoos on here, so just testing the water as it were. Smile

btw it's a variation on this I'm thinking of. https://static.bf2s.com/game-images/awards/ubar/1031113_2.png

I know thats a bit small for you to see, but I have drawn up bigger ones with the proper rod of Asclepius.

I used to work at a bank doing business accounts and we had a tattooist on our books who was trained in Australia to perform medical tattoos. These included scar cover up and, this one I found fascinating, 3D effect nipples for women who had had breast cancer.

Tattooing over scar tissue may not take as well as on real skin and it feels very weird ( not nice weird) whilst it is being done but it is well possible.
Next time you have an anger issue and need some pain get your nob pierced.

Miami Ink featured a tattoo covering some stutter cuts of some description. It can be done, a little more painful if I remember and may take the ink slightly different if the scar is covering a large area.

Heres some threads that may help:

It filled an hour every so often, like American Chopper did. Not great TV but not a lot of thinking required to watch it.

The reason why I mentioned it as I remember a few people having stutter cuts and scars covered with tattoos but can't really find them on youtube. I did however find loads of 'audition' tapes to appear on Miami Ink. So much for the public wanting tattoos and wandering in.

I have a fair amount of scar tissue covered with tats - no emo scars, these are from getting mauled by a dog a couple of years ago - so varying size, depth, healing etc for them all.

Tattooing them was fine, covered by the sleeves now, with the exception of one on my knee that's being covered once the sleeves are done.

It may need a few more passes to get the ink to stay in - they tend to bleed a bit more than normal skin, so its harder for the ink to stay in. Talk to your tattooist, you can either go over it in several sessions (some of my colours have been built up over 5 sessions), or you could choose a colour which is easier to go in - some inks are thinner than others. Light yellow is a bitch on me, very thin and I bleed it out fast. Black goes in easy.

You thought I might like to have a choice of clothing. Quite practical, and scars are permanent. Wink
