Anyone else on the A406/A13 area of East London (near Beckton) tonight? Traffic was absolutely awful, tailbacks for miles everywhere... Thank goodness for our bikes and the ability to filter! Mr. Green

Edit... so this is why:

Quote:
A13 Greater London - Overturned lorry on Alfred's Way (East Ham And Barking By-Pass) eastbound at the Movers Lane junction in Barking, two lanes blocked.

Yep I was I was on the TDM making rediculious amounts of noise,

Why do I always get stuck behind the arsehols on sports bikes or the olb blokes on tourers that can't filter for shite yet won't move over.

Advice for filterers if someone is behind you that means they caught you up, this also means you are in there way, move.

What I hate is cars that move out and straddle lanes so you get stuck behind, or big fat lorries trying to squeeze through. Especially didn't like being close to one with a smashed wing mirror so he couldn't see me. I sometimes find I'm concentrating so hard when filtering I don't notice someone on a bike behind. Other times I can't move in for them as there are no gaps. I don't filter really fast, just 10/15mph faster than the traffic. Would still be out there if I was driving a car though. Thumbs Up

Yep...didnt expect it as when I usually leave work at 7 the roads are usually clear...

See the warning signs back near tower hill when I left work...knew I was in for a boring commute...decided to take a detour through ilford to have a bit of fun!

Yun was stuck too...bike was overheating like mad!!

Blimey must have been bad because it was also back-logged right through Limehouse and along the highway to Tower Bridge. I wouldn't have wanted to be stuck on 4-wheels in that lot!

Yep, was still backing up around about 5PM on the A406 - Luckily it had cleared up (well mostly) - I dropped off at Charlie browns roundabout and went through Gants-Hill...

When filtering I hate it when people see your coming, know your there but still argue that they are right... If you want to fu*king weave/filter get a fu*king bike... Tw@ts...

It's amazing how much of a knock-on effect these things have. One vehicle having a paddy bringing East London to a halt (well the 4 wheeled folks anyway). From what I saw Ilford/Manor Park was heaving too all the way down the Romford Road. Cleared up around Forest Gate. The bloody TomTom didn't warn me of the traffic until I was nearly on top of it. Evil or Very Mad Would have tried going through Plaistow instead otherwise. Never mind, good filtering practice and made the trip home a bit more interesting. Rolling Eyes

Sounds like you need to work on your road-craft and planning -ahead. I must have overtaken 40 bikes between Tower Bridge and Billingsgate with no effort at all.

You can ride a 50 on motorways. Would be interesting to see... I take my 125 on them from time to time and it hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. Cruising at 55-60 no problem. In fact I found it better than riding dual carriageways, the surface is way better/smoother and for some reason drivers tend to behave more in my experiences so far. Thumbs Up

Me too I hate slow filters that wont move.

It's never leaners or little bikes either it is always "proprer" bikers, The worst are the power rangers that keep checking how far you are behind, I get as close as I can to them it seems to be the only way of bullying them out of the way or do some under taking in the left hand filter lane.

Glad I don't live there, bad enough when I have to visit with work.

My commute is about 8 mins with no traffic, 12 mins with heavy traffic.

Main reason I work where I do and not commute to Leeds or Manchester. Sure i'd get anothre 10K or so, but that'd soon be eaten up with tax, then petrol, then the fact i'd loose 2 hours a day.
