Woke up today to go to work get all kitted up and walk down to find my bike not where I left it. Some wanker has gone off with it Sad. Im really down now and I had to come into work in the damn tube. I only bought the damn thing last Saturday for 1500 and it was only insured third party.

If anyone sees it being run around the Camden town area in London please give me a shout or knock the wanker off the bike.

Bike details are as follows: CBR125 Orange and Black. I didnt even get a chance to take a picture of it or to say goodbye.

Hate being a guy i cant even cry Sad

So they can afford to employ smarter people tio think up scams like the release fee for looking after a bike

Pisses me off, and I havent, as of yet, fallen foul to the robbing f**kers

Upgrade your insurance to TPF&T, wont be too much and eliminates the loss if it gets stolen

If you fall off chances are it is your fault, or you can claim off the person who hit you
If it gets nicked, it is just luck

Incidentally.
Anyone see road wars yesterday?
Those 3 kids taking the rip with that bike, no helmets on so the police couldnt chase them.

Then cut to america, guy rides off, no helmet on, does a u-turn, police follow, does another u turn, police follows, does a 3rd, half way round police car ploughes into the back of the bike knocking him off it

We need that approach here
Stolen bike, knock them off
Hopefully they will die

I could live with getting a badly damaged bike back if i could attend the theives closed casket funerals as reward

My point exactly, its too softy softy over here. When I was talking to the police she talked to me like it was my fault for buying a bike and locking it up outside. Felt like venting on her, but didnt since i'm a nice guy.

The stupidity of the system is that if I see the guy with my bike and beat the crap out of him, i would most likely get done for assault. Damn it im moving to Dubai, theives get hands chopped (rare cases but still) low fuel price, no income tax. Sounds like heaven.

What sort of chain was it? Any idea of how they cut it? Did they smash the padlock or cut the chain itself?

PostPosted: 16:12 - 30 Aug 2008    Post subject: Went to pick it up Reply with quote

Well i went to pick it up today, the depot opens at 10 and closes at 12. I was told to call at 10 to find out whether I can pick it up, so by the time I got there it was 12 and I had to beg and plead with the guy to let me take it.

Anyhow he eventually came round and says to me I need the insurance certificate (which i dont have since its only been insured less then a week ago and I havent received the documents) I suggested checking online cause I am insured I just dont have the cirtificates.

The guy was an asshole and seemed like just wanted my money.

Apparantly the ignition has been barreled does anyone know how much it costs to repair/replace the barrel. And is it possible to get an insurance certificate sent via email?

As for the answer to the question about the lock, it had an Abus lock, i have no idea how they got through it since the lock was also gone, so far the cost of a crappy cbr is coming close to £2k and I dont even know how badly messed up it is since the wanker wouldnt let me see it.

FYI, Bike theft in Camden is rife, buy a decent chain and use security devices on both front and rear wheels. Buy a cover also.

New ignition barrel isn't much at all, about £40 or so. If it has H.I.S.S though, it'll cost a fair bit more to sort out.

It is possible to get it sent via email, mine did on friday but that doesn't mean they will accept it as proof as it won't be of the same quality print as the official copy will.

I live in Kilburn, if you need a hand at patching her up, I can help (albeit after mid september)

If thats the place in Ponders End, you can't take an emailed insurance certificate up there (and I aren't even sure insurance companies will do that?) ... but when you actually pick it up, if you can't get it going, you'll have to leave it outside their gates to avoid being charged even MORE storage fees. I'm sure they all probably work the same way or similar. There is method in their madness, but when you're the victim, its frustrating to be stuck with huge bills and irritating beauracracy for the privilege of having your own bike stolen Evil or Very Mad

We collected mr hellkat's bike from the pound at Ponders End last week after it was nicked a month ago - and we couldn't start it (electrics/clocks ripped out). I hated having to leave it there exposed in the middle of nowhere, but I had to get him away from there and calm him down (!!) til he could get someone to get a van to go back and pick it up.

Take a chain if you are worried you can't start it, cos you'll have to chain it up outside the confines of the compound.

Or better still: take a mate with a van/bike trailer.

Seen it here in Glasgow where kids steal a bike and the police wont chase because they have no helmet, despite the fact they were riding like complete idiots before the police arrive.

My neighbour is in the police and he confirms that little happens to them, childrens panel report at best.

I really feel that at the very minimum we remove this handicap on the police and allow them to pursue. The fact they have stolen the bike in the first place qualifies them to be chased until caught. The simple fact is that police or not they are not safe and could end up killing someone due to the reckless antics they perform.

At 13, 14 or whatever the age there should be some ban placed on them riding a bike when they do eventually become legal to ride.

What is the point of banning them?
They just stole one, chances of them bothering about not being able to ride legally wont be a problem

Like on the police programs when they get caught with no license or insurance.
Few hundred quid fine, 60 quid costs and points on their license.. Why bother? they havent got a license, so arent likely to get one

At least you got it back. It could be a lot worse.

New ignition barrel shouldn't be too much. Hotwire it to get you home though, don't faff about with fitting one there.

Funny how they ask to see insurance. The place they took my C90 to weren't bothered about it, the bike didn't even have an MOT or tax but they said I could ride it away so long as I paid the recovery fee.

Thanks for the replies all, Ive bought the cover and brand new lock albeit it will now be parked inside a building so should be relatively safe.

Stupid insurance company is closed already so cant really reach them, have to try tomorrow.

I was really pissed of at the guy at the pound almost smacked the crap out of him. He wasnt being helpful at all, just saying no to every question I had for him like I was the theif and at fault. Luckily he was behind a metal gate Sad.

It seems like a really bad start to my motorcycling career. And Camden sucks.

Also im planning on going down to the police station and explaining the situation and maybe getting a note or something saying I have insurance. That is probably a better idea I think.

Yes, well the "police programs" represent the tv criminals that producers want you to see in order to make interesting TV, they are not representative of everyone. For many that get to the age of being able to drive legally and realise they cant because of their past is going to be a much harder lesson for them, and that does not mean they will just go ahead and ride anyway.

It's getting harder and harder to drive illegally now.

Why go through all the trouble and expense of getting a car just to have it taken off you after a few days?
