When my tyres are ready for a change I am thinking of getting a fatter set. 130 on the back and a 110 maybe a 100 on the front. I was wondering though....whats the benefit of a fatter tyre?

Its an AJS CR-3 125. There is a 100 on the rear and a 90 on the front as a recall.

If it is Chinese, the tyres will outlast it.

A lot of youngsters buy Chinese bikes as they are attracted by the looks and price. The quality is generally poor and some are plain dangerous with frames that snap.
When the Chinese come to terms with quality control like they have with capitalist greed they may have a chance.

p.s...I have seen the quality of a Chinese bike during a strip down and rebuild...shocking is about the closest description, narrowly ahead of appalling and dangerous.

A thinner wallet Laughing

Don't waste your cash.

What a waste of a once great British name, reduced to selling rehashed chinese imports.

I really can't see one of these in a transport museum in 50 years.....
Well only as a pile of rust on the floor. Embarassed

Indeed...truly a tragedy of Shakspearean proportions.

None whatsoever.

Leave it standard, sell it and save up for a Yamaha YZF125.

More rubber on the road more traction but more resistance. With a large bike where loosing traction because of power this is a fair trade off, however on a 125 narrow tyres give less resistance and you do not need the extra traction. Why do manufactures fit fat tyres on little bikes? Fashion.

Nearly... the pressure over surface area also matters. ie, wide tyres on a wet road can actually reduce grip by being less efficient at moving water.

So with the low weight of a 125 you could have more grip in the situations where it really matters if you have thinner tyres.
