Please see this thread:

The Ktm guys have had enough of their beloved m/c's going walkies from london so when a thief was caught they decided to spend the day in court with him.
If you happen to see him near your bike, or anyone elses for that matter, you know what to do. Wink

He wears a silver Roof helmet while riding a bicycle - can't be too hard to find.

I seen that on London bikers.

From what I've been reading, I certainly wouldn't want to own and use a new KTM in and around London. Getting nicked at a silly rate.

Yup, and unfortunately, there is not a lot we can do about it - other than keep your bike secure & watch out for little thugs like the one pictured.

I suspect I have just seen our little scrote in action! Silver open-face, roof helment - riding a scooter like it was stolen from Islington heading towards Kings Cross. I followed him without him realising, and as he met up with his mates, they all clocked he was being followed and they scarpered. I wasnt keen to give chase where he went down a bicycle path with the scooter.

Now, to be honest, I cant say 100% it was him - I didnt get to see his face. But where they met up was a stones-throw from where he lives.

If it was him, I guess the court appearance made a big impression on him... Rolling Eyes

Running someone over because you saw something on the internet isnt really a good idea.

Not everything on the net is true.

Sometimes vigilantism can go a bit far.

Quite.

I think the point is for people who ride their bikes into this KingsX, Islington, EC1 area to take extra care with their bike & for people to be able to recognise a bike theft in progress. By description of the MO and description of the likely individual involved.

I reported my above info to the police - and their suspicion was not too different from mine.

As far as I can tell, no-one has called for this punk's fingers to be broken with a hammer. That said, I am sure few here would shed a tear if this little scrote nicks the wrong bike someday and thats what happens to him.

Unfortunately, for those of us who want to stay on the right side of the law, this little punk will keep stealing bikes, and there is nothing we can do.

If this was where I grew up, I can tell you this punk would have received a flogging ages ago. Might not be 'legal' and in accordance with his 'rights' - but the police would have applied enough common sense to 'look the other way'.

yeah im not 100% against vigilantes if i thought they had the wrong guy

but unfortunately they are rarely going to have evidence more rumour

i have an idea who nicked one of my bikes, and its somehow more personal than a tv. If I was capable of exacting retribution, thought I could get away with it, and was sure it was him, i might consider being a vigilante, but as it is, its just another unsolved crime.

Well, apparently he is due in court again on 11th September.
Youth court, 181 Talgarth rd.

Would be cool if there were 100 bikers there to wave hello - might put the wind up him a bit.

No-one touch him, mind... Cool
