Anyone excited about this game as much as me? It's due out on the 29th of this month Very Happy

I hope it manages to preserve the atmosphere of the first, whilst becoming less buggy Very Happy

Still playing the original at lunch, it's an awesome game.

Looks ok, but seems to be more of a remake than a sequel (prequel if you will).

Same map, with a few extra bits and better graphics.

Maybe they should call it STALKER:Source Razz

It depends on how you play the game,

One is if you focus on money throughout the game

I think there's 7 different endings throughout, the funny thing is I've never completed it, I keep starting over, I'm at Yantar at the moment on my work lunch game, and I'm playing the Oblivion Lost Mod/Using trainers on my home game Very Happy

Should be good, but Fallout 3 should eclipse it, the new Fallout should definately be worth getting excited about, Betheseda-tastic.

Dude they are starting to release tit bits of Op Flash 2! Spring 09 is time to bring the PC back out! Very Happy

Just checked out Fallout, seems to be Oblivion set a few hundred years in the future, I didn't quite understand the VAT's systems, seems pointless making an FPS when you can point and click someones ass to the moon. I know it leans more to RPG but that's probably why I wont buy it.

Also anyone else think it was a STALKER/Bioshock hybrid????

You'd have to have played the original to understand/appreciate it the way it is meant. I assume you haven't?

Comparing it to an FPS won't help you Razz

And Op Flash 2 is just a name, Bohemia Interactive were the magicians of the first Op Flash, and they have nowt to do with this one, Armed Assault 2 on the way though Very Happy

But Armed Assault was a wanky pile buggy poo, was quite disappointed with it. Some of the most laughable effects I've seen in a game.

They had the right idea but poor exiecution in the end, not to mention a PC upgrade to play it.

The only thing that worries me with OpFlash is it is cross platform, despite them denying there will be compromises there will have to be, talks of 4 player co-op (Op flash supports 40 player co-op) have raised a few eyebrows.

Yeah I just noticed the 3 in the title, may have to check out the other 2, or you could just pitch it to me, I'm lazy like that Razz

EDIT: Just checked out the other 2 Fallout's, number 3 makes more sense now, at least they've gone for 3d graphics and a bit less point and click Laughing still not for me, I'll check out Armed A 2 though. Oh u fancy coming to my wedding doo thing goose, in October?

Luke

I wouldn't say it was wank, but I would describe some scenes as a bloody mess Razz

Its a different type of game, probably not to everyone's tastes, like a fine wine compared to the coca'cola's of Halo and COD.

It got better with patches.

I can understand though what you mean, I like it because I'm interested in the history of Chernobyl as well, plus I think it's the most atmospheric FPS around, that cut scene with the surviving ecologists from the helicopter crash versus the army is just epic.

Would you like to elaborate, ok it lacks polish but it is a few years old, but what it lacks in slickness it makes up with
Atomsphere and story line,

I thought the AI was very good

The shooting mechanics were very good, some FPS developers don't realise that most weapons are hediously inaccurate especially when fired from the hip.

The RPG element was good and didn't require tonnes of faffing but did add to the experience

It wasn't all run and gun and required the player to use tactics and the environment to complete an objective. There were many instances where I used stealth because I had 6 rounds a pistol ammo and didn't fancy trying to take down several enemy's.

It accomplishes so much, when you look at the shallow linear games that in effect get you to point and click at enemy's while your funnelled through an endless corridors.

It dosnt try and fool the player in anyway, what you see is what you get, and the playing time is about 100x more than nearly every other FPS out there.

Its not for everyone, maybe its a bit too grown up for the laser blaster, eyeball melting generation. Razz

Stalker is probably the best looking game i've played, the scenery that it, the characters were kind of sloppy & so were the creatures but the buildings & lighting were brilliant, same for the sound.

I didn't enjoy the game when you reached that city just before Chernobyl, i much preferred just walking about collecting stuff & killing locals, not all those men in the big armour.

Looking forward to the second. I hope you don't need tons of patches to make it playable like the first.

Not particularly to be honest. I played it for a few hours on a few seperate occasions but just couldn't get into it at all. Yet to give crysis a go, I had as high hopes for stalker as I do for crysis. I guess it's just the hype that let it down. Big time.

Crysis was one of the biggest let downs in the last few years, I pretty much forked out £500 for it (I had to buy a new computer to play it).

They had all the tools for a great game but fucked it up big time with bad design and lack of polish, they spent so long on the engine and physics that everything else was lacking, also the MP which IMO is a key point of modern games was absolute garbage and just didn't work.

Lets hope the developers of of Farcry 2 have learned from Crysis's pitfalls, because its looking alright from what I've seen so far.

Yeah it's quite similar to SHOC apparently, apart from the fact AI are MUCH more intelligent, it uses v1.5 of the game engine with dynamic wet textures, 'god rays', FULLY dynamic light.

There's also extreme weapon customisation (Can customise bullet groupings, RoF, etc), faction wars (You can join Duty, Freedom, etc) and apparently AI life cycles have been much more improved.

(AI also use cover, cover fire, and throw grenades)
