Can anyone tell me how do I polish parts, such as alloy footrests, tried before but all I did was leave black marks.
Also can anyone give me a link to some decent mops, kits ect.
Cheers for forgiving a stupidly simple question.

The black marks means your using too much compound.
I know a way to do it, but havnt personally tried it so not going to go into it but im sure someone will post a proven way!

When I did my forks I used a light to medium sanding sponge soaked in WD40 from Halfords (the green one). The more you use it the softer it gets. Once I had done that I used a brass wire brush on my dremel, then a plastic brush and then chrome polish.

lots and lots of wet and dry, then autosol.

Start with rough wet and dry, then go finer and finer, then buff it up with autosol.

I did my Hornet forks, swingarm, footrests, wheels, downpipes and grabrail, ill find a pic. Thumbs Up

EDIT:

Theres me downpipes

And heres the swingarm, wheels etc, ignore the watermarks all over the polished bits.

I did both my forks in a day and then I did the fins on my engine which took 5 hours each side.

You're best just using chrome polish. If you are too aggressive with chrome you can wear through it and down to the base metal.

My forks haven't changed. Will be interesting to see what happens to them during winter though.

They will start going horrible again, but if you catch it early a 2 minute polish will have them looking fine again.

Yeah. I'll be keeping on top of it.

My dads RD forks are polished but he hasn't kept on top of his Evil or Very Mad They're getting a bit fluffy now.
