But i just kind of shocked myself at what i thought.

Its to do with the Universe and the big bang etc, and the thoughts came after reading about the colider etc etc.

What if the big bang was the end of the Universe?

So we are now living, but in reverse to what we think.

Thoughts? (Will expand on my thoughts when i return from work).

In a sense you're correct. Some people think the big bang was caused byt the contraction of a previous universe. Once a body attains a certain mass it explodes...

The say, that eventually the universe will stop expanding and start contracting, it'll keep contracting until whatever's there has to much mass then off it'll go again like a big yoyo.

What I want to know is, am I typing backwards... Confused

Time has direction.

There is a concept called entropy which is to do with things becoming increasingly disordered over time.

This gives time a direction.

So its not possible for time to be flowing backwards, or for us to be living life in reverse.

"Entropy is the only quantity in the physical sciences that "picks" a particular direction for time, sometimes called an arrow of time."

"Consider the situation in which a large container is filled with two separated liquids, for example a dye on one side and water on the other. With no barrier between the two liquids, the random jostling of their molecules will result in them becoming more mixed as time passes. However, if the dye and water are mixed then one does not expect them to separate out again when left to themselves. A movie of the mixing would seem realistic when played forwards, but unrealistic when played backwards.

The big crunchie? Damn, couldn't it have been the big double decker or wispa? Wink (terrible pun FTW)

On a more serious note though, from what I remember the rate that the universe is expanding at is increasing. Basically meaning that it will never stop expanding, it won't slow down and will never collapse in on itself... we will just keep getting further and further away from everything until we hit another universe or something... Thumbs Up

REALLY cool article, for those who are interested and want the current take on it by scientists at the moment. Thumbs Up

In certain cases, where an oil is mixed with water, the two will most certainly seperate-out if left still.

The same could be said of the universe, where absolute chaos reigned in the beginning, but order slowly evolves out of that chaos. Reverse-entropy, no?

Our perception of time is that it moves "forwards" and that it would be impossible for it to move "backwards", but the way I see it, it's conceivable that if everything was reversed then what we would see as "forwards" would be perfectly sensible and we would find the idea of dye mixing over time to be ridiculous.

see now i seem to remember time being described as "the 4th dimention" and as such is not necessarily linear. Basically we only see things in 3 dimentions (width/depth/height) and have no way of naturally perceving time as a 4th.
This means, although we can't think of it in such a way, that time can be moved through in a non linear fashion... It is quite a concept really Wink

Mass bends space-time and increases time flow - this is why if you were to synchronise two clocks and send one into space, the one in space would fall behind the one left on earth.

Should have mentioned that the rate at which time passes is dependant on an objects velocity relative to the speed of light (this is the important one)
