I have bought one for my mum for her birthday in the hope that it works and stops our house smelling of smoke and her health improves.

Are they decent replacements to the real thing or just a gimick??? (pretty expensive mind, initially)

To be fair, it doesnt produce any smoke upon exhalation, something about that would make it so that it didnt do it for me, nicotine or no nicotine, theres something strangely satisfying about blowing out a large cloud of smoke. Weird.

Our nicotene-addicted accountant was extolling the virtues of his e-cigarette at lunch the other day.

This is a man who wears a patch while sleeping so he can keep his nicotene levels up. He's got no intention of stopping smoking but has tried everything available to keep him buzzing in places you're not allowed to smoke any more. At Gatwick airport he was toting every kind of inhaler, gum, patch and spray under the sun in hope of surviving the trip.

So if he rates it, it should do the trick.

Hmm. Seeing as I'm currently giving up for the Xth time, might try one of these.

Problem is that is looks like the cross between a fag, a pen, and a tampon. Why must so many replacement cigarettes look like a sanitary device.

Due to the power of advertising I ordered one of the disposable one of these yesterday, it arrived this morning. Puffing away in bed as we speak.

It isn't a fag, not by a long shot. Makes me want a real fag.

There si definately nicotine in there, but its delivered in a cloud of steam, with some sort of fake tobacco flavour. It doesn't go well with a cup of tea.

Leaves a funny feeling/coating in your mouth, what with it being steam that you inhale. And, being steam, you don't really exhale anything at all, it all gets absorbed/condenses in your lungs.

Can do good clouds of steam with it though, its thick stuff.

As with all nicotine replacement stuff, it isn't strong enough. When someone releases something like this that gives me as much nicotine as a marlboro red, in the same timeframe, it'll sell.

What stength nicotine did you get?

I ordered my mum a cheapo one and 6 refills off ebay for about £20. I got the 16mg (I think)

The disposable one only comes in one strength - 16mg, which is regular strength.

As the day goes on I've been getting used to the taste, and I am now exhaling something visible - maybe the unit needs a good few goes before it starts working well.

Not strong enough to give a proper buzz like a fag, and seeing as you can't see it burning down you never know when to stop puffing away. So I've got a bit of a headache now. Don't particularly want a fag though.

One big bonus - you can leave it in your mouth to puff away and not get smoke in your eyes. This is a big plus when I'm working on my car and using both hands.
