Just had my first lesson in advanced riding, boy does it make a difference!!! My instructor was really good, didn't criticise my riding but asked why I did things a certain way and asked me to try doing it this way. Even my partner noticed a difference in my riding skills after only one lesson. In a way I wish I had done it sooner.

It really helped my confidence in riding espeicially since I just changed the bike from a single to a v twin.

It would be nice to hear from others who have found the same and what advanced tests they have done and of course which one thay found best.

What are you riding and how long have you bee riding for since your test?
I've thought about doing a course but i'm worried it will just be a waste of cash as i won't learn anything new

I past my test 7 yrs ago in November been riding a 650 Pegaso just got the Transalp XL700V. What about you?

Came back to biking about 7 or 8 years ago, bought an ST1100, OK not what everone might like but it can really shift when you want to, do long distances in comfort and handles well (except in slow traffic with radial tyres).

Soon decided to do my advanced and boy did it make a difference.
The whole thing is designed to make you more aware, quicker but safer. If anyone has done a DAS course then you will have covered some of the syllabus, (DAS is not available in Ireland north or south).

At the start of the course I was quite happy that I could ride fairly confidently, at the end of the course I was certain that I could. Its not a quick 'attend' course, you need to put in some miles on your own practising the techniques, but I certainly felt it was money well spent....including the insurance discounts you get once you've passed.

Bickerchic had a huge grin on her face after her 1st lesson...hasn't worn off yet!

I did Herts Bike Safe last year and got 'B's and 'C's.
Had 3 Observed rides with the IAM during the Summer.
Just done Bike Safe again today and got 2 'B's and the rest 'A's.
So best £75 I spent (think the IAM is slightly more now but you can still get deals)

You'll learn stuff alright! You'll think you're fast now, but after/during the course you'll find yourself getting faster and primarily safer.

I saved about £500 on my insurance with it

Also it's good for a social aswell. They like to keep all together, and you are always welcome to discussion evenings/pub outings and the likes. And if the local branch is well run, there is always plenty of full and half day rides to go on, which are very good usually.

I did it for fun though mainly, just something to do kinda thing. Wasn't expecting much, but got alot from it.
