Hi guys, i`m in need of advise. I`ve got an 97 reg CB500 that's started playing up. A couple of weeks ago i noticed how the engine would not pull under exceleration every now and then. Anyway since then the bike has stopped all together. Just before the bike packed in i had to bump start it to get it going and found that the bike would ride fine until i put my lights on, then it would just lose power and not pull, this stopped when i turned my lights off again.
I was thinking electrical problem and have since changed the regulator and the ignition coil, still no joy.
I can still bump start it but find when it is running there is no throttle response other than, when i take the throttle off it cuts out, and when running it is very erratic and keeps back firing.

Any ideas what needs sorting
Thanks
John

The only three things I can think of right now are

1) the spark plugs might need changing
2) the carbs cleaning and balancing
or
3) there is a problem with an earth wire somewhere on the bike

You will need to check the battery.A battery is more than one battery it is like six more or less put together.Four could be fine but if two don't work then the bike will not run so well.

Paddy.
