I think so, unless they fell out about 22 months ago, when I hit that large bump...

Mine fell out of both bikes before i'd even taken ownership of them Shocked They cost a lot to be crafted so badly if so many people are reporting them falling out.

I took my GSXR600 to a friends for a service. It's amazing how much power an oil change can give a modern 600.

Your restriction finishes on the 11th as far as I'm aware. Technically I guess it's midnight tonight.

Mine stayed in on my first bike, they didn't even make it into the hornet though. Laughing

I was actually thinking the other since about January 06, barring the hire bikes I had, I have not ridden a 'Legal' bike I'm slightly proud Laughing

lmfao Laughing

The realy funny thing is, that 90% of people take them out. Everyone knows this, however the majority of police wont bother checking, because its an awful lot of work to fnid out.

However - all it takes is for one person to be unlucky and get thier bike checked out... at which point you are incredibly bad off;

- Riding without a licence
- Riding without insurance

Thats bad news as it is, lot of fines / bans / possible sentance in there, aswell as the fact that because of the age most people are when they have a restricted bike - you are probably paying a large sum of money each month / once a year for absolutely nothing - that you wont get back. Insurance company will cancel your policy with no refund.

If you ever make a claim, and the assessor comes round and it is discovered, then you will have your policy cancelled for non-disclosure, and receive no refund again, you will then be stuck with any costs to repair your bike - or even just the storage from the dealer who was planning to repair the bike, plus normally an hours labour for the estimate. Or worst case scenario, your there because you hit someone else - then your stuck with legal costs, the costs to repair your bike, the costs to repair their vehicle, and the costs of a loan vehicle for them while their vehicle is being repaired... and the best bit is you have been paying money to the insurance company for the privelage!

Laughing But hey, it makes you cool though, right? Wink

You can just put the restrictor back in if you have an accident, obviously I haven't done this my bike was restricted when I had my crash I didn't ride home and put the restrictor in.

It's not about being cool(well not for me anyway)we all know the risks. The chances of being pulled these days are pretty slim now what with the lack of traffic cops. That said I guess you only have to get unlucky once.

I'm not sure on throttle stops and how they work, but certainly washers in the carbs couldn't 'fall out'

If the restrictors had genuinely fallen out you'd still be guilty of the same offences as if you would be if you knowingly removed the restrictors yourself. As the driver/rider of a vehicle you are 100% responsible for it being legal.

So it wouldn't be much of a defence even if you did find a judge who believed you. Laughing

Damn good question, and nice to see a different restriction question. Karma

If I recall correctly your pass sheet has a time on it, and I'd be inclined to believe that the two years is up when that time is acheived.

Given the way that insurance cover works and all...

All they are is an L shaped piece of metal screwed to the side of the throttle body that prevents the throttle cam from turning fully. Thats on FI bikes, I guess it's similar on carbed ones.

Yep, the voice of reason.

Thing is, your a lucky one, like 90% of people. However, you need to be aware of the fact that if your unlucky enough to become part of the other 10%, then your ruined.

If your cool with that, and not just thinking "Ah, ill never be caught", then all is good. Otherwise you should just stick to what your entitled to ride, at the end of the day its there for a reason.

This is the last time im going to mention it though, because unfortunately there are too many kids on here trying to act like the hero and be accepted on the internet, to make any debate worthwhile Smile

I don't actually think anyone at this forum has been done for being unrestricted, or I haven't heard of it anyway. It will be a shite site less than 10%.
