Our fab banned us to commute on bike who has both car and bike. They just want to decrease industrial accidents. Is it same in UK that injury at commuting lead to industrial accident?
Stupid rider on bicycle slipped, rider on scooter dropped into a ditch, factory manager thought "2 wheels are dangerous", they banned.
I enjoyed commuting on my bike on sunny day but I can't do it from now.
Anyone has such experience? ____________________ own:2020 Serow 250

Never had anything like that here... although what with working at a bike shop, it would be quite ironic
However, we have got some lovely "Dead Slow!" signs around the carpark... Its both rediculous and pointless, how slow is dead slow? I would imagine dead to mean the end, nothing... thus the carpark is kind of useless if people are requested to drive through it at the speed of death... ____________________ CBT Aug '03 ... They threaten us not to cause any accident...
If any of us once cause accident (any.. even without any injury..)
whole department members of him must stand in the line at entrance at factory form early morning saying"Good morning! Safety driving!" for one month.. even senior manager must do this so... It's so terrible after that...

I would tell my work to find someone else, or just park round the corner and pretend to like wearing leathers and a helmet on the walk in, just to be extra safe.
The only remotely silly thing like that at work was when I got told off for not having the proper training to refill the water cooler. I laughed at him because I thought he was joking, apparantly he wasn't ____________________ Well, you know what they say. BTW my company have no problem at all with me leaving my company vehicle at home and using my own bike for commuting. They even pay for the tyres and fuel. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

I would ask round and see how many car drivers have had bumps.... Then take that to the manager and say well if you are banning 2 wheels, what about 4.....
Unless they are paying for your transport to work, they can't tell you how to get there.
I would get in touch with all your local rags and say how unenvironmentally friendly your employer is, as they are forcing people to use there cars to get to work... Add your local MP in to that as well.
I'm sure they will soon back down. ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

find another job? , you aren't a "サラリーマン" (Sararīman) are you? I proof read Tina's PhD once and she had gone to Nagoya tech or something to do research , it effectively stated that Saraiman were often kicked out the company at an average age of 45 , with barely any pension and zero prospects due to the company forcing them down a very narrow path and niche set of skills.
If you live near Nagoya why not go see an old mucker of mine Alex or if you live near Tochigi , I know another guy there too, both use European working techniques, ie fairly laid back , and unlike working for a Japanese corporation you don't have to sell your soul.
Or come to HK , tons of jobs + japanese girlies there , I suspect a reason I score so heavily there , in HK is that everybody thinks I am Japanese. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. When I first joined my company in 2006 I was handed an unsigned and undated letter stating that if I had an accident on my bike they would withhold pay while I was on sick leave. The letter stated that if I failed to respond to it they would assume my acceptance!!!!
So I wrote back to them pointing out my disappointment that this wasn’t brought up at my interview (which I clearly attended by bike) and my disgust at the way I was presented with a crappy mail merge letter where they couldn’t even be bothered to fill in the blanks.
I stated that I would continue to commute on my bike because that was none of their business and I refused to visit any clients unless they agreed to pay to upgrade my bike insurance to cover business use or supply me with a pool car.
I unreservedly rejected their sick pay nonsense on the same basis stated by others already in this thread. They were not banning anyone else from activities that carry risk so why pick on me? I ended my letter saying that if I didn’t hear from them I would take it that they agreed to all my points.
I never heard back from them, but I do have exclusive use of a pool car with a fuel card now which is actually dead handy. Especially if I’m carrying tools and parts. It’s not easy to get a rack mount server on the back of a bike (I know because I’ve tried……. and failed, lol). Maybe a blade server on the back of a Blade….. ? Nah…
Anyway I still commute on the bike most days unless I walk or cycle and I have used the bike several times for work when I’ve had to go into central London or to sites with limited parking. I paid for my own insurance to cover business use (extra £20) and got an agreement for bike use written into my medical cover from work.
My HR department (department is a posh term for a pleasant, but slightly retarded dwarf based in Bangalore) is none the wiser and probably still hasn’t read my letter. ____________________ 2016 CBF1000F - Commuter heaven | 1994 CBR600FR - Awaiting defibrillation |
