Hiya all,

need some new tires for my R6, anyone know which ones are especially good? I have heard BT010's are good, but maybe not totally suited for the road?

Any advice apreicated.

BT010 BT012 or BT012S are all good. 010's will give most miles with 012S doing the least to a set. All much for a muchness really.

Cougs, I can definitely recommend BT010s for road use, I used them on the V Raptor and never had any problems. They provide plenty of grip in both wet and dry conditions and have a fairly good life. I also used Dunlop D207RRs on the Benelli, they are softer than the BT010s so don't last as long, but being softer the level of grip in them is amazing!

Howeveer I've never ridden an R6 with either of the tyres (in fact I've never ridden one at all Confused ), so I can say if they are suited specificly to that bike.

012 is the newer updated version of the 010, and the 012S is the sportier version, so more grippy, less life on it though.

Thumbs Up

010s are good for road use if your going to be riding in the wet.

Personally with summer coming I'd be tempted to go for something a bit stickier, especially if your going to be doing some track days. But for a good all round tyre that will be at least competent on track and last a few miles on the road 010s or equivalent should be good. Much better than the standard 207s imo.

Think ill go for something sticky for the summer, as the bike will cease to become primary means of transport and will become simpl pure fun! Very Happy

So are 012S a good bet?

Cougs.

Never used them myself but have heard good things about them. Never had a bridgestone that I haven't liked, but then I've only really used 010s.

Hi
well im getting a new rear tyer, i will most deffinatly be getting 010's. I do alot of motorway miles, but i like to play on a sunday, I think 010's will be my best choice. at the mo ive got Suprer Corsas, which are very sticky *when* they warm up, but rubbish when cold or in the wet.

dunlop 208's were outstanding for the short time that i had them on the R6

but cant compare them to the bridgestones cos i dont know, 208's are pricey i think

207's are crap in my opinion until you get used to them. my confidence on them has improved a lot lately but mostly because i've been re-reading a twist of the wrist 2 and putting it into practice with throttle control etc and the 60/40 rule etc etc, really does improve confidence in cornering so far. But definitely going for some 010's soon!

I've got 207RR's on the Blade and they were excellent from day 1. Seemed much better than the 010's I had on my Gixxer.
They helped improve my confidence on the Blade no end and have done nothing but grip the tarmac.

If you want something sticky for the summer I can recommend Metzeler Rennsport roads. I had them on my old R6 for the summer and they were great fun, you'll have to recalibrate the brain for how quickly they turn in though!

Not brilliant in the wet but of you're looking for a fun summer tyre then you won't beat em.
