my dad wants to ride my 125. will a car licence obtained in 1973 allow him to ride it with L's or does he need to do a cbt?

AFAIK he still needs to do CBT.

past bikes: (20 years ago) cg-125 (wriiten off), C-50 (thrashed n' finnaly scrapped), CZ-125 (nicked - never recovered, insurance payout was more than i paid for it !!!)

he did used to ride bikes on this licence and says he did some sort of training back in the day dont know what this trainin was do the new rules in feb 2001 revoke this entitlement?

Even if he did a CBT ages ago, they run out every 2 years and you have to redo it.

yes i think so, way back when i was um 18 or 19 having passed my car test you were able to automatically ride a 125 with L's and did for about 3 years, but more recently (2007) i had to do my CBT just to be able to ride 125's again.

i think he can you know? full licence gives him the ok, just prov licence and new full licence that have to have cbt.

If he has a paper licence he needs to check if he has a provisional entitlement for Category A. If not he will have to apply to get the provisional Category added on.

He will need to do a CBT to validate his provisional entitlement.
