Hi Guys,
I'm wondering if any owners of the CG125 are having this slight niggle. Niggle, as i mean it's not a problem, but rather, a little frustration.
After returning from work on Friday, i parked my bike out and switched off the fuel gauge, as described in the manual, and left the bike out until Monday morning.
The bike would not start unless the choke was fully on. As soon as the bike started, i switched off the choke and revved up and down a little to warm the engine. As soon as left the throttle, it just stalled. I had to go back and start it up and again and left the engine running a bit. It then began to be idle. As soon as I used the throttle it stalled again . It kept doing this until i had to keep starting and warming the engine about 5 times... Very frustrating!
Is anyone else having this issue?
Update: Today, Tuesday, i started it again and left the engine running for 5 minutes. The bike was responsive as could be.
To me, in the cold, I think you have to leave this engine idle to a good 5 mins before taking it out.
Anyone else find this slight annoyance? ____________________ 2010 Honda FES S Wing 125 |

It takes a couple of minutes - well, the time it takes to get my backpack, lid and gloves on - on choke before the NSR is warmed up enough to ride, and then it's spluttery for a mile or so before it's starts to run properly sweet, so it doesn't sound that bad.
Have you tested your thermostat to see if it's working as it should? If it's not, that won't help your warmup times. ____________________ A Guide To Powerbands |

What you have described sounds perfectly normal for a lot of bikes.
My Honda C90 would run fine if you turned the choke off straight after startup, but my Eliminator on the other hand...it's a warm blooded beast.
It needs full choke to start, then I normally back it off to about 3/4 (otherwise it revs its own bollocks off) and start riding. I only turn the choke off once I've gone a mile or two, otherwise it has a habit of dying.
I wouldn't worry about it - some engines just need it more than others, I think |

Thanks for your input guys...
I've noticed lately that there seems to be more bikes on the road than previously thought. I guess it's the cost of fuel and traffic and parking restrictions that getting people on the bikes now...
Happy riding... ____________________ 2010 Honda FES S Wing 125 |

I have the same year Honda CG125 as you and the same problem.
Then I found the Honda CG125 website and it explained everything and how to sort it.
https://hondacg125.awardspace.com/
Look in the General page.
There are 3 sections in that page about the Choke.
After reading all 3 sections I had to set the Idle Mixture Screw and Idle Speed screw as per the websites instructions. |
