From my previous thread about the crash I'm wondering what it is worth and if it will be written off.

Right it is an 02 TDM900 with 26k on it aprroximately 1k ago it had Nearly £500 spent on it. Pads all round, new rear tyre and full service at a Yamaha dealer (I have a Receipt).

Anyway it was pretty mint not really a mark on it apart from some damage to one panel which I can easily blag happened in the crash.
I have the following 'Mods',

Twin Titainium Scorpian Exhausts, RRP£770.
R&G can protectors + Bungs £130
Scotoiler
GIVI Box
Meta alarm + Datatag

The box is all scuffed up the cans are bashed in one hanger is broke. The R&G's are all scuffed too(Did there job).

Pretty much every panel has a mark on it, I was hit on the right then the front then the bike fell on the left. The tank and frame is fine as it the rear end. The front wheel is bent as are the forks, a coolent hose is punctured and has lost most of the coolant.

Is it gonna be writen off? I really want her returned to me how she as except with different cans, the scorpions are pretty pants.

Original Price £6,499
Independent Dealer £2,685
Private Good £2,430
Private Poor £1,580
Part Exchange £1,855

By parkers so they will be working around the private poor id of thought as insurance companys are usually conning barstuads and want to steal monies.

Hi

Just seen this

Personally I would suspect it will be written off. But it also sounds like (as a cheapy commuter) there is little actually wrong with it.

All the best

Keith

I've got it down as 3500 on the details if that makes a difference, hopefully they will cough up for the bolt on goodies which are probably worth £1500 new and take into account that it was mint and had perfect consumables and a £500 service bill recently.

Have you asked the insurance company what the salvage value is if your bike is written off? In other words, what will the insurance get back when they sell it to the breaker? Because it is still your bike and your property, if you could pay them this price to keep it. Then you will have the choice to either break it or fix it, it may be worth it depending on the costs involved.

Fixing it myself would be a pain as there aren't many parts for it on ebay. I'll have to see what they say.

On a side note if I pay for a years insurance the get a pay out for the written off bike and buy a vertually indentical bike (Maybe different year/colour) where would my insurance stand?

Pretty sure ins will be stopped when you get the payout.
Best ring the ins co and find out, as they do vary.

Hope you declared all the non std stuff you listed..... I would expect, as well that the £500 you spent is lost.
Scrap value is just that.
Don't accept the 1st offer it will be low.

Insurance only stops, as a rule, if you ask it to. Insurance can normally be suspended whilst you are purchasing a new bike. There are limits on suspension times and they do vary.

If you are claiming as 'fault' then expect your next policy to be more expensive despite it being the same bike. Even if you protect your NCB, your premiums will still go up - just not as much.

Certainly look to retain salvage. Thumbs Up

I doubt you will get anything for the bolt ons (did you declare them to your insurers?) and certainly not the service costs.

Depends on the policy. Some policies will end in the event of a claim.

All the best

I'd advise buying for salvage and break for spares if parts are too difficult to source to repair. You're most likely to a good financial return this way as you've mentioned parts are rare and thus in higher demand = prices go up.
