ever since i got the 10r i have noticed a ticking noise at certain speeds, ie about 40 mph in top gear and its a geentle tapping/ticking noise.. not to loud and not like anything is broken or damaged and its still running like a rocket.

anybody else with the same bike noticed anything like this?

i mentioned it to a friend and he asked if it could be the injectors or something to do with that system?

Does it still do it if you pull the clutch in at that road speed?

Then you'll know if it's engine/gearbox related, or chassis related.

If that happened, you would have a large number of valves bending very quickly, and a huge repair bill.

Has it got Kawasaki's KLEEN air system? My ZRX had it and it sounded like the tappets needed adjusting at certain revs.

yes. but probably not but if its slightly moved it may be. if you cant find what it is have a look at pistons before it escalates.

I think assuming it is the pistons is a last resort. Try the simple things first before ripping your engine part.

yes little chance of it being pistons but if you tried everything else then you may have to look at them. but try everthing else before.

ive done 2000 miles on it and its always done it, surely if it was the pistons then it would do it all through the rev range AND when the bike isnt moving.

spoke to a guy who said that it was nothing after a ride and so left it.

it only does it low revs low speeds. doesnt seem to effect any performance etc so not too sure.

I would suggest that you stay out of the workshop unless you're asking a question because you clearly know absolutely nothing about road bike engines - or any engine for that matter.

Mark.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.
