Have you ever tried riding a bike while operating the throttle with your left arm stretched over to the right hand side of the carb?
I have. My throttle cable snapped today. I got some very odd looks.
By the way, has anyone ever tried making up their own cable? Where do you get the wire from? Bike shop offered to make me one but they want £20 which I don't have at present. |

hein gerike sell the cable and the pulley nipple things as well
[edit] when I first started reading I thought the question was going to be "has anyone tried riding with their left hand on the throttle and their right on the clutch", to which my answer would be yes " |

That is an emergency cable and will get you out of trouble, but isn't great. A new cable that fits should be under a tenner if memory serves.
Not sure EXACTLY which EL250 is yours, but for a rough guide ____________________ Kal...

Ahem...I may have been slightly worse than that...
Don't try and limp your bike home using the choke for revs...not clever
Well done for getting it home though! ____________________ A quater of a NC30 and a whole tatty ZX6R J2, that's plenty...

Its so bad when that happens!
I once had to ride a shite Honda moped that had been in a crash back to town. The throttle cable was clamped with a set of grips and to go faster you had to hold the grips and pull it! ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.
