Need a new offroader

Selling the XR650R as it too much power/weight for the trails l ride, any suggestions of a 250-400cc bike must be under £1000 age not important.

Usual advice is see what's out there .

Is this just for off-roading? If so, I'd probably go for a 2 stroke; I'm currently looking to swap my Husaberg 501 for a KTM 200 EXC.
I partly want the lower power for doing enduros as the (too loud anyway) Husaberg can get a bit tiring and I'm not really making full use of it's power, often leaving it in one gear.
Not such an issue on trails where having more midrange can be nice and you're not trying to ride at 95%.
If you're lucky, you might get a 2000+ model for your budget, but older ones are still pretty good. The 2003 200 EXC I'm looking at he has advertised at £1500.

If you want more of a trail than enduro bike for more general use, XR250, etc. CRM250, KMX250 and the like are all worth a look.
Recently there was a MK3 CRM250 on ebay with trail and supermoto wheels for £1300 or nearest offer - a good deal, I thought.

Pah; it’d be fine somewhere like Enduroland; think in the thread I posted it showed the person who took the picture’s bike; which was a trials bike!

I do find the Pamp’s a bit short between the legs which feels a bit odd (and if I was better would mean slightly less control), but haven’t found it a big issue really when riding them.

100kg 250 2 stroke sounds good but l,m 6ft 1" so would be a bit odd on a little gas gas have tryed mikes 300 and it was a laugh, going to keep my eye out for a kdx220, CRM250 etc

Closest I have come to offroading was a pitbike in a forest for 3 hours every weekend for 2 months
