I'm after getting a disc lock for my bike but I've no idea which are good & which aren't so I need you good, kind, folks help on this one.
I'd rather get a Thatcham Approved lock as it might help in some small way to bring down the excessive insurance I'm gonna have to pay when I get my bike. (Hopefully soon)
And whilst we're at it can you also recommend a decent Thatcham Approved chain & lock as well.
Recommendations please!

I wouldn't bother getting an insurance approved lock, the discount they give is minimal.
Oxford locks seem to be good. When looking for a chain, look for the biggest thing you can find. |

I've got an Oxford lock and chain, been pretty good so far, although I'm not quite sure how to test a lock and chain without taking a bolt-cutters or angle-grinder to it hehe. One thing though, I dropped the lock on the floor from about hand height and when the key is in it just keeps turning, but as long as it's in the right place it will unlock. Seems safe enough though. ____________________ Current bike: VTR1000F Firestorm. Previous: Firestorm (written off) - XJ600 Divvy - NSR125 - DT125 and a load of offroaders. |

I've always used an Abus Granit which has been good but they are expensive, especially when you need to buy a decent length of chain.
I have been looking a these recently https://almax-security-chains.co.uk/shop/ they seem to get decent comments and aren't overly expensive. |
