My usual advice is to try and find someone who's bike you can blag a go on, on a practice track or similar.

The price of many 'experience' days could buy you half a cheap dirt bike!

If you were further south I'd happily offer you a go on one of mine, but a bit far to travel just for a muddy ride.

Cheers G, yeah dont really know anyone with a crosser or any nearby tracks. Plus kinda dunno what im doing on them so i guess would like to be instructed on basics, i.e. how to control slides etc.

A lot of what you learn when first riding a crosser is getting over the 'whoa everything feels all lacking in traction' sensation.
And would prefer not to be paying someone to do that Smile.

Yep I agree. Similarly to G, I'd be happy for you to ride the GasGas, but I live about ten yards from G so it doesn't help much.

Go have a ride on the spoil tip in Bury near Pete Gothards workshop...

Go past the metro link and turn towards bury on the left cross the BP petrol station until you cross a river with some warehouses on the left, turn left before the traffic lights and at the end is a small trail you can ride on you can get to a huge spoil tip... watch out for the lime piles though fall over in that and you'll go blind...

For a bike Pete has a couple of old DR350s for £650, theres a £180 one in stockport 50cc though , so not quite beefy enough for yer....



Also Bill or Will (the young one) goes dirt biking every Sunday he runs Speedwells motorcycles in Radcliffe.
