Why are you writing in caps locks?

I swear that button should be removed Rolling Eyes

THe PSU will add no performance benefits what so ever, unless you current PSU is inadequate (like OP too?).

The new PSU might useful if your current PSU couldn't handle two 9800GTX+

Obviously having two graphics in theory will double your graphics performance, however I doubt in the real world they would double the figures.

Do you even have a motherboard that supports SLI? And no, they're not worth it unless you're running an insane screen resolution.

New PSU for those cards is a def!

As for running 2 cards you DONT get double performance which is pish but true... Evil or Very Mad

What you do get is a slight performance not that I have ever seen it in certain games (crysis, company of heros to name 2) but really only at massive res's on 24 inch plus screens. And the game also has to have an SLI option, it does not work by default you will find in some games that you need to disable SLI from the Nvidia control panel or you get lines down the screen as each card tries to write after each other.

the main benefit of 2 Nvidia cards is you can get the new Physx driver pack from them which then gives you bigger explosions rel life physics movement and some other shiny things.

Its not REALLY used yet but it will be and you should not have to upgrade for quite a while.

Why did you not get 2 260's 280's or 1 4870x2? the 9800 was seen as a bit of a let down compared to the likes of the 8800gtx

I bought a 260 and can run everything apart from Crysis (shitty coding) at 1900x1200 full everything on DX10.

If your running 64 bit Vista or XP then you would be a hell of a lot better getting an ATI 4870x2 which has 2gb's of ram and is officially the fastest card around. Karma

you WILL NEED x64 to use it to the full though

Thumbs Up

ok you said the 9800gtx was a let down compared to the 8800.fair statement,but its the 9800+ cards that im running wich are differant.this is what my mobo is;

24"wide screen monitor
thermaltake armor case
9500+athlon phenom qud core am2 cpu
4gb ddr2 ram
500gb sata hard drive
gigabyte mother board
2 x 9800gtx+ 512mb ddr3 graphics cards
650w psu
windows vista ultimate 32 bit i'm in australia so no use gettin 64 bit.
there must be some advantages running two cards?????

Hey willi Thumbs Up

Dont get me wrong mate you have a great system (overclocked yet?)

there is a benefit just maybe not what people think BUT it will only get better Wink physx will be naive to Nvidia cards soon and you cant tell me that your not playing anything below full right?

I reckong you overlock your system and your sorted, lets be fair there will always be something faster. I wish sometimes I waited and jumped to ATI BUT i'm happy I just know theres faster gear out there Very Happy

So why not 64 mate whats where you live got to do with it?

Read my other post on Vista 64 Wink

Cheers!

Thumbs Up

SLI does not work to the best of it's ability.

No dual card systems benefit enough from the second card.

You will see an increase but not enough to justify it in my opinion.

And I'm talking from experience as I did used to run 2x ATi Graphic cards and only saw and increase from 250 FPS in a stress test to about 330.

Not worth the new motherboard, another card and a bigger power supply.

But it does improve it so it's cool Cool

9800GTX+s were behind the curve from launch, if you don't want to go down the ATI route (Given the reliability of the things, I won't, the HD4870x2 idles at ~80c) at least get a GX280 instead.

As for SLi, it's not honestly not worth the expense and hassle unless your into nothing but the very latest action games and have a 30"+ panel, my 8800GTX runs everything I've thrown at it native to my 24 just fine with only Crysis suffering in places. A GX280 or flagship ATI would cope with it just fine. Things like WoW, CS, BF2142 or CoD4 barely break a sweat on my pc.

Don't forget SLi takes more than just buying the extra card and chucking it in. You've got a lot of extra heat to deal with as well as a substantial increase in power consumption. I'd rather spend the money on some tarty bits for the bike personally.
