Hi there, im looking to buy a rs50 gp-1 Smile

now ive spotted one here.

How much would you pay for this bike?

You probably don't want to hear this but...

presuming your 16 anything bigger than 50cc is illegal, and as far as i know anything capable of 30mph is too (though most of the time its not a problem, unless you overtake a cop car at 50 Razz

)

If you are older than 16 then just don't bother with a 50, no point at all.. some countrys a 50cc is classed as a push bike, unless you have to don't bother tbh..

Other thing is, mods don't mean its been looked after, nobody would spend that much if they weren't thrashing the hell out of it (though its difficult not to i guess)...

certainly not £1500 worth i'm afraid...

Wish i could have had a bike at 16, anything is better than nothing, but you'd be WAY better off waiting a year and getting an nsr or similar..

RS50's are very unreliable bikes at the best of times, and if all the parts he has fitted have not been set up right it will go pop soon! Also it would not pass an MOT with a race can on, and it would be very easy for the cops to tell it had been modified, paticularly if you are 16 and it should in theory be restricted. Its also worth bearing in mind the parts don't really add much to the value of the bike.
As for the value, I wouldn't like to say whats its worth as I would just be guessing.

Good luck to you if you do decide to bid for it, just bear in mind what it will cost you in servicing.

I would not bother buy a cheap ts 50 for a year it will save you money in the long run.

Starting on the RS50 might not be such a bad idea, surely if nothing else he can build up his no-claims bonus making the move upto the (slightly) bigger 125 not as painful?

If you're going to start on something like an RS50, make sure that its road legal. As divuk83 said, even though it doesn't need an MOT yet, as soon as it does you'll come a croppa. Don't spend money on something that's been modified in a way that would make it illegal for you to ride. If you're just starting out, the last thing you want to do is get points on your license before you really get it... Or for that matter, get in a tangle only to have your insurance company void your cover because you're riding an illegal bike... Just my two cents, but leave that bike well alone Thumbs Down

Hi

We had fun finding one for a neighbour. Managed to find one for £750 in OK condition. Needed a few bits sorting out, and the tacho still does not work. It was hideously noisy even on a standard exhaust (it was actually quieter with the silencer taken off).

£1500 would buy a nice RS50, and there are plenty from around £1200.

Tuning bits for the 50s are cheap, so don't add much if anything to the value for those parts.

Hey,
I wouldn't be inclined to pay too much at all. With two strokes it is a matter of when rather than if when it comes to the engine going pop. Then you need to get it re-built. This is not the cheapest thing in the world but its not stupid either, however what is stupid is the waiting time for Itallian parts, weeks and weeks. (and you're paying tax and insurance for a bike you cant ride) I'd get a twist and go scooter, i know they have no cred at all, but you won't get stopped by the police and if you want to get a big bike eventually, you REALLY want a clean license. `Suffer a scooter for a year or so. It'll not let you down, hold it's value and not get you nicked. It won't be mega fun, but hey..... it's transport. PS have you ever had to push a broken bike home?
