So who plays it is it any good and whats the modding community like.

Plenty of cars to download ?

And whats a good steering wheel to use.

Just want a good driving sim/game with good tuning options.

Get LFS.

I have a Logitech which is probably the best simulation set up for an average simulation racer.

There are more expensive ones but usually £400+.

G25 is around £150.

Thumbs Up

People also build cockpits for it.

I'm going to do one some point in the next 6 months Cool

Never been a huge rfactor fan myself but I'll sneak in some recommendations for the games I do like Wink

LFS handles the tyre physics a fair bit better which imho makes for more enjoyable and slightly more forgiving multiplayer. Downside is the cars it simulates are a bit uninspiring.

GTR Evolution is worth a gander too, the graphics are pretty dated, but the audio is spot on and the physics have come a long way since GTR2. It's key selling point imho is that it's got a decent rendition of the Nordschleife that doesn't suffer from the low poly count surfaces that ruin most of the versions I've tried across various sims.

Need for speed pro street on max realism with aids off is suprisingly decent with a wheel too. Never thought I'd say that Smile

Oh and on the wheel front.

G25 all the way, it's leagues ahead of anything else you can buy. Keep in mind that the arcade grade wheels generally won't have force feedback support at all.

You'll enjoy LFS so much more.

I've played nearly all of the Race Sim games and LFS is by far the best. Thumbs Up

LFS desperately needs a Nordschleife, it's the only proper sim without it I think Sad

I'm sorry but rFactor is so much more realistic than LFS. Most people don't like rFactor cause they can't go round one corner without spinning, but this is exactly how a real powerful RWD would react if you are not used to driving one, which is why on all the sim racing forums everyone goes on rFactor. rFactor is even used as a simulator for a lot of motorsports.

If you think you are a god on LFS, try driving 1988 F1 cars around a lap of Budapest without spinning, took me a day to even get it round one lap at a half decent speed, haven't even attempted the nordschlifer in one yet.

As for steering wheel, if you have no budget then the G25 is about £150, or if you are on a lower budget look for the logitech driving force pro, or on ebay for the momo wheels.

I love rFactor! - you need a lot of downloads and tweaking to get it right though.

I play it with a G25, reelfeel mod which helps the force feedback, and on a HD projector at about 85", which is an awesome driving experience. I went on a VXR trackday at Rockingham earlier in the summer, then got home and downloaded the track and a similar front wheel drive car - it certainly is a very accurate simulation.

Downloads I'd recommend (all free) are the Megane Cup series, the Caterham series, V8Factor, the TopGear track and of course the Nurburgring.

I used to play a lot of LFS until my desktop FUBARed...think it would actually run better on my current laptop though.

I'll get a desk in my room and order a G25 methinks.

I was usually found on FM oval server (BF1/oval) or on any of the [noobs] servers which isn't a suprise seen as though i am in the noobs team Cool

When us noobs were bored we'd go 'hang out' on the carribean cruise servers, can be hilarious at times Laughing

The Megane Cup series on rFactor is the bomb.
