Ive been looking for a chart of bikes in insurance groups because I was thinking there must be more powerfull bikes in NSR's group seven. It seems more sensible to get a big restricted bike rather than two bikes one after another. But the question was are there more powerfull bikes in group 7 and if so what? I'm guessing if there in the same group there roughly the same price? Oh yeah is there a list somewhere of bike insurance groups.

Round about question I know.

Cheers

Jan

Don't quote me on this, but on my last call to an insurance company I was told that they are starting to take the groups into account less, and the engine size and power output more.

So, your best bet is to ring around a few companies and get prices, and remember to tell them the bike is restricted to 33bhp to get the realistic prices.

Insurance companies don't give a shit if a bike is restricted or not. So they will charge you just the same for a 150bhp ZX-10R as they will a 33bhp ZX-10R.

For once will agree with McJam. They wont discount you on account of the bikes reduced power. They will charge you the full.

I dont know where insurance companies make their quotes up from.

The list price for me on my hornet is £1500. They had to under write it to £780. I dont know how much of that was true or false.

The only way you can get a good price on insurance if by phoning round. Or paying Danny to do it.

Yep, you have to call around till you sick of calling around, then call around some more. Then you'll be closer to a good quote. Smile

Oh and BTW McJamweasel and SummY are right about insurance companies not giving you any discount for being on a restricted bike.

I been calling the insurance today, and I rang up the same company 3 times, with the same details, just a different name and flat number. The quotes varied from £486 tpft up to £1100 odd. Evil or Very Mad

I reckon that these companies just have a random number generator because they know some people can't be bothered to call around and will pay whatever they are quoted. Rolling Eyes

Thumbs Up needa Thumbs Up
