cleaned my exhaust today (DL650 Vstrom) and found the bolt which holds the baffle in was snapped pulled out the baffle and started her up ................. Razz WOW Twisted Evil it sounds soooo nice and growly i dont wanna put it back in.

So what would happen if the police pulled me is it an offence as itsa a road legal can??

May drill a hole through a screw and secure it with a split pin so i can take it out easily Very Happy

Wouldn't be a legal can after doing that.

All the best

Mine 'fell out' while on a spirited ride one day, never did find it and that was at least two MOT's ago, not had a problem.

My exhaust says 'road legal' on it and its nice and loud so people can hear me which is clearly an essential safety feature. win win as far as I am concerned Very Happy

Don't throw it away though if you do keep it out. The sound soon becomes monotonous on long runs even with earplugs in & you may find you can't wait to put it back in.

My Tuono with a full akrapovic system used to have the baffles out at the weekend, and then back in during the week because i work at the countys Police HQ, and park next to the traffic coppers Smile

Its nice to have the option, sometimes the noise used to do my head in, and on my ZX6R sometimes i just wanted to hear the induction noise.

I would have them out all time on the TDM but I work nights and it sets off car alarms at idle. Laughing

You want to try sitting behind someone who has done this.....

You don't realise just how bad it can be to other riders behind you when they cant hear anything but your exhaust.

...if you're homosexual. Confused

Hooning round the local roads doesn't count, power rangers are not out long enough to get bored of it.

Try a decent length trip if and keep your baffle out then say you don't get fed up of the droning. Rolling Eyes

+1

Plus its nothing to do with the safety excuse as they can't be heard inside a car until the bike has passed.

I changed the exhaust on my old GSX to a slightly quiter one when I got it. The one on there was a G-Force with no baffles and was fucking loud.

At the end of the day, a stupidly loud pipe is just chavvy. As I'm not a totally selfish wanker, I'd rather my bikes make a nice growl without pissing off the rest of the population. Plus, induction noise ftw!

Hi

Personal view, exhaust noise is just a waste product. Like a fart. Just like the odd fart is unavoidable so is a bit of noise. And just like a rare comically timed fart the odd noisy exhaust can be amusing. But lots of noise all the time is just like being a smelly git living on baked beans and brussel sprouts.

All the best

Keith

My bike recently failed its MOT on exhaust noise, (among other numerous things.)

Don't throw the baffle away.

Thumbs Up

(Also the thing about people only hearing once you've passed is true. I've sat in traffic trying to filter and roared, folks in front don't bat an eye lid. On the other hand, small children only burst in to tears after I've passed them. Safety isn't really an argument, unless you point your can forward... Confused )

i f*cking hate you all at the moment so much. This is worse than giving up smoking and drinking at the same time and your worried about baffles Wink

ok the ketamines kicked in now.........take the baffles out if your end can produces a nice growly note without being totaly over the top.

I had a scorpion which even without the baffles wasn't to mad which is great for passing the plod without drawing too much attention but made me smile like a loony with a new crayon when opened up and the overun well.....
