First of all, I'd like to make sure everyone understands that I am in no way dissing dogs, their owners or homeless people.
I am however, pretty pissed off today Went to the bike shop to buy some leathers, as suggested by Mark , got some lovely Frank Thomas leathers , feeling pretty chuffed by then.
So off I go, all happy like, and then...........I have an accident .
Picture this, nice old homeless (drug-addict - not my words) person crosses on a pedestrian crossing, as one does. Lights turning to green and I'm on my way across when a dog comes onto the crossing causing me to swerve, bugger up my fairing, and go for a nice slide down the road. Good thing I was wearing those leathers and keeping to the speed limit
Now old homeless person swears at me a bit and walks off while dog is running around barking and growling at moi. No offence, but why wasn't the bloody dog on a leash!!
To add to the irony of it the dog ran back out onto the road whilst traffic was moving. If that dog kills itself I hope that old man has a bloody tough time getting over it as it's all his fault.
Shame you can't claim insurance off a homeless person.....not much money there

In case I rambled on a bit , the point I was trying to make is that dog-owners should be more responsible. I know th dogs need their freedom but something nasty could've happened. Luckily for the dog he got away unscathed.

Damn! tough break mate, must be horrible knowing an accident wasn't your fault but there's nothing you can do about it. You ok too I take it?
Good luck fixing the bike. And I bet you won't go out without leathers on again now that you've seen how good your FT stuff is! ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |

Very true - leathers are a must, unless you don't mind getting bashed up a bit . I got off alright, still annoyed though that my brand-spanking new leathers don't look so brand-spanking new no more
Any idea where I can get my fairings replaced?

Also look on the bright side. You have fallen off so it wont happen again for ages
And you would have felt alot worse if you had hit the dog ( though not it you hit the hobo ) ____________________ F'it DO WHAT EVER MAKES YOU HAPPY!!!!! Even if it screws over everyone else :p

Lol Rob that's a bit genocidal. Good idea though, just that I wouldn't want to try to put it into practise.
Sorry to hear about the crash Danish, there are places that you can get new fairings quite cheap, try https://www.replica-fairings.co.uk I think they have them.
Good luck! ____________________ Current bike: VTR1000F Firestorm. Previous: Firestorm (written off) - XJ600 Divvy - NSR125 - DT125 and a load of offroaders. |

The hippy owner is obviously not confirming to the usual stereotype, he could have at least attempted to put the dog on -
A/ a piece of frayed blue rope
B/ a piece of electrical cord
C/ a red bandana warning you of the dog's 'wild side'
D/ A red liquorice shoelace
I've heard (rightly or wrongly) that these down and out types get £7.00 (?) per week as a 'dog allowance' although I'm pretty sure that'll probably go on Special Brew as opposed to Pedigree Chum ____________________ Mellow Yellow

I hardly think alluding to a dog being on a 'red liquorice shoelace' is stereotyping people to be fair Laura. Unless there are a plethora of Bertie Bassett loving homeless people in your neck of the woods. It was intended as a tongue in cheek post, no more, no less.
There was no malice intended in my post which I thought was fairly obvious in view of the content. ____________________ Mellow Yellow

I had this daft dog run out on me one night last month from behind a big van. I was just twice van's length away when I seen it, going 30mph. Slammed on the brakes nearly running the thing over if it never managed to run back a bit. Then hearing a big scream from the owner standing on the pavement with about 5 other dogs running around loose at the main road. ____________________ Honda NSR125R -> Suzuki GSXR400R GK76a -> Kawasaki ZX636 B1H -> Honda CBR400RR NC29 -> Nothing |

A dog is that much problem?
I think you should be in my locality. The night roads are dang!!!
Some of them even sleep on the middle of the road
The law bans killing them
And, we have no pound facilities!!!
A lot of them get to see the 18 wheeler tyre threads ____________________ "CHANCE FAVOURS THE PREPARED ONE" |

I see what you're saying except that it is quite difficult to hold a homeless person to account. At the end of the day, all I'm going to get out of him is a lot of verbal abuse and racism. He wouldn't even give a name, I did get all the details of one of the witnesses though. That might come in handy sometime.
My insurance is TPFT so they're not going to pay up either, right?
PS: Just wanted to say sorry to Laura. I did not mean for this thread to offend you or anyone else. Just needed to vent some air and figure out how to scrape up some money to fix up the bike No offence to any of the homeless/ drug addicts out there - only one of you got in my bad books

I've noticed that bikes tend to freak them out. I usually see dogs going berzerk at me while their owner is trying to hold them back. Or if I'm following a car with a dog in the back. It just sits there on the parcel shelf staring at me like it's thinking 'what the hell is that'. Never been chased so far though. ____________________ Honda NSR125R -> Suzuki GSXR400R GK76a -> Kawasaki ZX636 B1H -> Honda CBR400RR NC29 -> Nothing |

Dogs hate me too for some reason. If it were me i would half expect the dog to try and steal my bike afterwards, of a least take a S**T on it. I stroke 'em and they bite me. I look at 'em and they growl. I guess they sense something in me. They know i favour cats!

I would have much rather run over that owner than the poor little dog - who wasn't on a leash

I say blame the owners too. I hate seeing dogs roaming around shitting everywhere and getting run over. I've had many a dog chase me and bite at my ankles as I ride past. I just stick the boot in and they *eventually* get the idea. ____________________ Current bike: VTR1000F Firestorm.
