Laptops fucked, anyway of saving my hard-drive?

Alright guys, my laptops fubared

Had it a year and a half, used constantly, and now, it starts up, gets to a certain point in start-up and then just dies, constantly.

I really dont have the money to get it looked at properly, as I know it will be silly expensive just to get it looked at, let alone fixed.

Is there any way I can get all the stuff off my hard-drive? had a lot of family pictures etc that are on there

Id rather invest in this method than fixing the laptop as there is a shared desktop i can use at the moment.

Does your laptop have to be on for them to work? I assume not? Excuse my n00b questions.

All you need to do is revove the HDD from the laptop, put it in the caddy and plug it into another PC. you will then get another drive appear in my computer.

Ive just stumbled across something.

Apparently, Toshibas are rather renowned for clogged heatsinks.

I'll have a look i think, cant do any harm, my symptoms appear very similar. If this fixes it I will just pee all over myself. Lovely.

If you go down the route of pulling the HDD out it’s worth checking if the disk is SATA or parallel. The caddies are different.

Or you could just pick up one of these which covers all the options including desktop drives.
