ever since i was young ive always wanted to go to uni and do medicine, recentley i got kicked out of chemistry classes at school (small dissagreement with the teacher) ive spoke to him many times about coming back onto the course and each time he just tells me to get out without even listening to me, and the head of year at my sixth form hates me too so hes not looking to do me any favours in fact hes just waiting for his chance to kick me out, im a a-grade student and the teachers no that, i put the work in but dont respond well to authority and pointless school rules, the way i see it teachers dont automatically deserve respect they need to earn it just like everyone else. the problem is there is 100% no chance i can get back onto the chemistry course and without the schools help i will not be able to get the grade. i honestley dont know what to do with my life i could go into electronics easily enough, i could pick up a sponsorship for a uni course in electrical enginerring easily and crusie through uni, but i really dont want to do it electronics does nothing for me , i want a job where i can enjoy my work and take pride in it, whats the point in doing anything if you cant do what you really want to ? everything else is just a consolation prize
im having a mid life at 18 , i smoke cronic amounts of drugs and have touched on class a's a few occasions, i jsut feel like my lifes voer before its even began

I agree with the above post.
If you're really serious about getting somewhere in life then get your head out of your arse and get rid of the attitude that the world owes you something.
Forget the drugs and clean yourself up.
Teachers aren't stupid and I bet the ones you claim hate you, are in fact just sick of students like you who think they already know it all...
It's not the school that has let you down, it's yourself
(The above may be harsh but it's as I see it!) |

So...... a small disagreement with a teacher sees you banned from the class?? Also, for reasons unexplained the head of year hates your guts and cant wait to kick you out? Hmmm, methinks theres more to this story.
Smoking 'chronic' amounts of drugs is probably not helping your issues here either, give it a rest for now, plenty of time to do that when your not trying to get into medicine.
As for not responding well to authority, you might want to think of the authority that will be above you in the realms of medicine, you will have to answer to people who wont stand to listen to your shit , probably because someones welfare is more important that squabbling with you.
You are showing your age and ignorance by claiming that you can "just do electrical engineering and cruise" and easily getting sponserships etc. I really dont think you have any idea of the work involved or even the scale of complexity of the work you may come upon.
In summary, before sorting out your life, you'd do very very well to sort of your detritus attitude because if you carry on in this stubborn fashion then you really will not go far at all, and could well be posting here in 5 years time asking "why was I such a twat?"

Dude there's plenty of time to hit the class A's in your late 20's when you have more cash lying around and have set up a small network of fuck buddies.
Just chill, stay relatively clean, get your head down and accept the fact that some people won't like you, some people will be mean to you and some people will treat you like shit and at your age, more often that not, there's bugger all you do about it.

Teachers aren't again students?
I got put in Isolation today for using the car exit to the car park, instead of the pedestrian exit.
Despite the fact that the pedestrian exit was magnetically locked and the exit button wasn't opening it.
And this is after they refuse to give me a locker and won't let me do Physics.
I'm seriously considering getting my AS year out the way and doing an apprenticeship.
Takes the piss. Also our school isn't offering A-Level IT, just BTEC.
I'm sorry if you think teachers are out there to help us. They aren't.
2 Hours in a room, missing out on IT work I need just to pass my course as I used the only exit and others who were walking out at the same time as me don't get anything.
Also try and find an evening course at a College for A-Level Chemistry |

Or course the teachers are there to help you Fnatic, they are only human too. They wouldn't be there if they were against the pupils. Granted there are some bad teachers, but there's only 1 or 2 in every school. ____________________ My Flickr |

Id question that tbh, I think half of people who go into college, well from my observations at least, go there because at 16 they havent got a clue what they want to do, so just fill in an application form that some of their mates who seem a bit more sure have done an tag along, after all, at the very least they'll be some decent birds there surely.
Then when it comes to the classroom, you have half who are trying to pay attention and learn something, and half that dont give a shite, piss around, distract others, argue with the lecturer out of boredom, etc etc.
Think you're hitting a decent note with those other points though in all honesty, sad but true.

You know your problem, you just don't think you need to change.
If you refuse to treat teachers with respect, to the degree that is becomes a problem so that they don't want you in the class, you have gone wrong.
A first step would be for you to realise that you need to behave appropriately and treat people with respect even if you don't respect them, at least if they have power over you.
You may have already made a name for yourself, and even if you change your attitude teachers may not believe you and want to give you a chance.
Another way would be to think fuck em, i can learn better by myself. This would be great if you can pull it off. Learn yourself, put yourself through an exam, and get the A without them.
That would also be great preparation for uni.
Another option is, if you are an awkward little sod, you would probably be quite good in sales jobs. These jobs can be good for people who are a bit socially domineering and are slightly brighter than average. Good money in the short term when you are young, but nothing like the career progression of medicine.
Its not enough to be bright, you need to apply yourself and achieve things that show you are not just bright but capable.
Lots of bright people fuck up, while lots of less bright people are focused and capable and achieve things and so can be trusted with more responsibility.
If your chemistry teacher won't speak to you, write him a letter but only after you have realised that you need to treat him with respect even if you don't respect him. ____________________ colin1 is officially faster than god |

The thing is, the same can be said of university in the first year definitely, and probably the second year in my opinion. You tend to find everyone still in uni in the third year will get a 2:2 or up, because they've lasted that long.
The amount of people who fail first and second year is astonishing though.
College wise you may be right, but 16 year olds annoying you are far less annoying then 12,13,14,15,15,17 year olds annoying you. Think about it, they always give the best teachers to the middle groups, the 'average' sets. So the sixth form kids get the teachers who have dealt with 'average' teenagers all day. And they're just a bundle of bloody laughs.
True a lot of people in college were there for a fuck about, myself included, but it settles down quite quickly because most students are happy to tell you to shut the fuck up. My point is, the teachers themselves aren't miserable cunts. ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

Same mate, they won't let me do chemistry and physics all because i wanted to drop maths (did it for a week and didnt like it at all).
A teacher that taught me science in year 11 put me up to the higher GCSE science paper at the last minute and only taught me the stuff that will be on the paper. So said, i can only do Chemistry and Physics at AS level if i did maths.
So now im stuck with Applied Science which i dont think will get me into uni
I cant belive they put you in Issolation, your a 6 former not a school kid, you choose to be there, not made to be. A teacher held a few of us back in ICT to complete some work at dinner. I said 'Fair-do's' I did the work and felt better after.
But when a teacher tries to give some people a detention for not doing some work is aload of shit (not me). We are 6 formers now!
If we are failing, kick us out!
In my Science lesson a teacher told a lad to stand up because he was talking. This made me laugh! I would have just told him to leave, not stand up like primary school kid. Ive not had that done in secondary school at all! Never mind college!
The problem here is, they aren't treating us like young adults. Which is something we are, and this is something they should do.
College's are fine, call teachers by the first name, treat you like an adult. But 6 forms (a college attached to a school) are shite! They still treat us like kids! ____________________ We are the Patriots! Love your country.

thanks for all the replys, its good to get some outside vewis on the situation, the first post made me come across as some sort of teacher hater but its only those two teachers that have a problem with me, the rest of my teachers are great. the little argument i had with my chemistry teacher was due to me missing some lessons because of work, i told him i could catch up easily but he wasnt having any of it, the short of it is the argument got a bit heated hes not going to be taking me back into lessons. it wasnt my effort that was in question i was doing all the work they wanted and more
i have aranged with the school to be entered privatley into the exams, which means i have to pay for them and i wont be allowed in lessons, its going to make it alot harder for me but its the only way i can get to where i want, atleast ive got more motive now i want that a in chemistry to wipe that stupid fucking smile of his fat face
electronics would be easy to walk into, the course im doing now at sixth form isnt required by unis as most sixth-forms dont teach electronics, so they love anyone who has done it because all the topics i will of covered will be the first two years of the 4 year uni course
hard drugs have got to stop. theres rarely been a day in the last few years that i havent smoked skunk, im going to take a few weeks off, its not going to be easy for me though ive been smoking since i was 14 i dont think ill totally quit but a massive cut down is defenetley needed to sort my mind out
thanks to all the people that replied ive found the posts really helpfull |

If you think you're gonna walk into electronics...
They may aswell hand you out the degree mate! You clearly dont need to do four years, what are they on about?!
Sorry, I understand what you mean, but covering a few topics at college/sixth form is nothing. You might go in with a bit better idea on the basics, but that means jack shit. ____________________ "Oh....it looks like Average Joe's is forfeiting the match!" - "Yeah, its a risky strategy but lets see if it pays off for 'em Cotton." |

Yeah dude they also cover DNA structure and function in college, but if I had balled into 2nd year Genetics lectures at uni on that knowledge alone thinking I could rule the roost I'd have had my arse intellectually gaped. Something to think about (I mean in terms of college vs. uni, not my gaping arse )
