https://www.motorcyclenews.com/upload/215068/images/GSX-R1000.jpg

Suzuki has just released the first official picture of the all-new 2009 GSX-R1000.

The key change is an all new engine that is 59mm shorter than the outgoing K7/K8 model, allowing a longer swingarm, though the wheelbase is 10mm shorter at 1405mm.

The changes have been made to ‘increase agility and race track performance’ according to Suzuki. Compression is higher according to Suzuki, but Suzuki declined to release further information.

Showa’s Big-Piston forks (as seen on Honda BSB bikes and the new Kawasaki ZX-6R) have fewer internal components and have a lower oil pressure than conventional forks, giving smoother action.

A new shock with high and low-speed compression damping matches the new forks. New Tokico four-piston radial calipers are also used.

----

Well, have to say, IMO that's the big four all looking like grunters for the foreseeable future. Thumbs Down

Sick

I was expecting something a bit more radical than that. Looks just the same as the past 3 incarnations imo- Big, fat and ugly.

they have to be the most lazy company when it comes to styling, the gsxr family have pretty much looked the same but with a worse front end as they get newer for yonks now Sad (odd blue too)

Looks lazily similar to the last 3 to me as well.

Except they've hacked some sharp angles into the tank and seat cowl 'a la' mv-agusta.

But really, in such a competitive market we're hardly going to see a step-change in motorcycle design are we? No one wants to risk it.

All we get is iterative improvements, and even more ridiculous exhausts!

I love it.

A nice can on that and in a colour like black or black and red that would look sex.

Replace the frame cover silver thingy with carbon would be awesome.

How much do those cans look like Micron items?

I think it's pretty dull to be honest. Are the manufacturers allergic to making pretty bikes now?

What is it with the new exhausts, so many new bikes have them now (08 R6 etc) but I don't know anyone who likes them Confused Bar that, I like the new GSXR; although I like the current one so I'm bound to like this one.

Looks gash, never been a fan of the K6+ Gixers - especially with the carbon-tack-plastic-rep infills, urine sample cat convertor and those horrendous exhausts. Suzuki were going somewhere with the K5, much preferred the lines that older bike had, but I guess they're following suit with the rest of the Jap manufacturers on making their bikes pig ugly.

Good lord, even the new Blade looks 'okay' alongside the other flagship superbikes. Why oh why, have Yamaha manked up the looks of the R1, it was the last decent looking Jap superbike? V4-esc engine or not, who was the twerp that came up with the pink frame idea?

Very sexy. Change the exhaust system and that looks amazing. Also liking the light blue they've gone for this time.

Ok on paper it will be better than previous ones, but Id rather have an old oilboiler gsxr than any of the k series anyday.

Cheers
