You'll get a better bike for your money if buying something second hand that's made by a known big manufacturer.

I'm guessing the sales guy told you that parts are easily available in the UK, parts are more easily available for bikes that aren't Chinese imports. Wink

That's a lot of money for an unknown chinese bike. You could get a decent jap bike a few years old. Well, I would, anyway.

Suzuki engine, or no suzuki engine - that's still a frame, suspension, brakes, electrics etc that is unknown chinese...

Don't be swayed by shiny looks.

Yeah I've heard about it and seen the pics a few weeks back.. I wanted one at first, but google the name first and look for reviews and see for yourself! You shouldn't get drawn in simply because it has a Suzuki engine mate, go read the topic about Chinese bikes on here too.

Thanks for the advice.

I spoke to the company and its sellers and they have confirmed that its a Suzuki liceased engine which is made in China, Its the same engine as the DR125 and the GS125.

I'll try to get the number for Suzuki China and going to find out if this is true.

Wish me luck.

Brick Wall Brick Wall Brick Wall

You've got two threads about this bike, both of which are full of replies telling you it's a bad idea but you're still wanting to get it.

Them saying that it's a Suzuki licensed engine means that it's a licensed replica of the Suzuki engine which is made by cheap factories in China who'll undoubtedly have cut many corners to lower production costs. The DR125 and GS125 engines will not come from the same factory, they'll come from a good factory. And that also means the rest of the bike is from the same cheap Chinese factory, meaning the product is crap.

If you want a cheap piece of shit that will break then buy the RMR 125. Once you've got fed up of it breaking you'll have trouble selling it because as you can see the advice from anyone and everyone (other than the shop selling them) is to avoid them.

Do yourself a favour and don't buy it. Thumbs Up

Sounds like you're hypnotised by the "too good to be true" price tag.

What's the bet that the Suzuki engine turns out to be a, "Sorry mate, we got told by the supplier that the manufacturer used Suzuki engines, that's what they told us."

Beware ultra cheap bikes, they're cheap for a reason.

This thread needs appropriate musical accompaniment...

Had friend who had a RMR for a year, engine wise it was holding up great, however electrics and screws and stuff were just terrible.

He always had to mess with loose wires and just had poor connections non stop. The nuts and bolts were just rusting like crazy.

This is the same as on my chinese moped which i had for a year, engine wise it was sound, but everything else on it was terrible, build quality is appalling and as a new rider the confidence it gives you is shockingly bad...

Just type "chinese" or "rmr" into the search and see, I'm sure that it has been discussed before...

a mate of mine bought a superbyke and he is going really well with it. they are a reliable company, i thought they sounded a bit dodgy but it all seems fine, a 4 stroke sound much nicer than a 2 stroke, i would buy a new bike as you never know what the previous owner has done to it. hope this helps about superbyke Thumbs Up

Jai466 I'm curious to know what finally changed your mind about the RMR and how you got on with the CBR.

I've got a RMR and for a Chinese bike it's darn good (remember i said good - not quick). It's nice and nippy up to about 55-60mph but from 60 to 70mph was less impressive; changed the rear sprocket and now its a 'bit' better.

The best thing about it is its styling, i went for the matt black and it does actually look the business. Unlike the CBR you are sitting nice and high on the road, well away from the road spray, and you don't have to look through the car in front of you; you look over it.

In traffic you would often be well stuck with the CBR, but the dirt bike style of the RMR lets you navigate the traffic with ease. It comes down to personal preference but i feel far more in control on a bike of this style; you may be different.

The frame is as good as you'll find; wiring is fine too; plastics are actually really good quality compared to some main brand off road bikes i've had; suspension is spot on with pre-load for the more tubby riders like myself. The headlight is about as much use as a candle in a force ten gale; swap it over for an identical aftermarket one and you can see where you're going.

The engine is (as you said) a Suzuki DR125; made in Japan and assembled in China. They really made a hash of it by gearing it for the street, probably based on Chinas standards, as its lacking the full punch of the Suzuki DR engine; only 9.6Hp. However they have realised this and are bringing out a new engine for Xmas this year (08) which will allegedly take it up to the 14.6Hp mark.

* They are offering an engine exchange service too. They take your old engine and give you a brand new spanky one, you paying a set exchange fee; wont be cheap i bet.

All in all its a good wee bike; looks the business; handles well and basically does what it says on the tin. Its never going to blow your socks off with speed, but it handles itself well for what it is and what you pay.

How did you get on with the CBR, is it / was it ok??

My friend had one (Black & Red) but it felt and looked like one of those electric toys you get for the kids. Ok at a distance but when your up close you see its not the real deal; too narrow and revvy. * His words not mine.

He swapped it for the Hyosung GT Comet (Yellow) and was instantly a happy bunny; real bike looks and feel. * Again, his words not mine. In fact when he passed his test he got the Hyosung 650 in Black; still has it.

Looks very much like the Pulse Adrenaline which is a really poor bike for quality, engine is good yes but a good engine is no use when the bike is falling off around you.

Some good stories, but many bad.

Yeah i've seen it re-badged with a few different names; still the quality is good for its price. After all how long are you really going to keep it; a few months or perhaps a full riding season (spring to Autumn). At something like £1300 brand new you can't complain. You could pay that for a mid to high mileage 'known brand' with an unknown past and still be no better of.

At least with this you get it right from the factory with its warranty and you have the buzz of being the first person to ride it. There is nothing like being the first to turn that key, hit that button and throttle up. Then you have the secondary benefit of pulling up to your mates sitting on their late 90's / early 00 models and you being on a factory fresh bike.

It's the illusion of quality at its best. Fine it might turn into a pile of rusting biscuit tin after the second or third year, but by that time you are long gone and have long forgotten your first bike.

* If your minted and can splash the cash go for a new brand name bike and swallow the depreciation in one gulp when you turn the key.
* Not so flush - then buy second hand and hope the previous owner wasn't your worst nightmare; ie: a clueless DIY fanatic.
* Skint (like the rest of us) then go for what you can afford, what looks the best and what will get you from A to B for the brief time you need it to. Then stick it in your local paper as "Ideal learner bike" and somebody will happily pay you almost what you bought it for, which will cover the cost of your new helmet, leathers and maybe a tank or two of petrol.

It's not an R1 - It's not a long-term commitment - It's just cheap transport and an opportunity to have a bit of fun on the way to college / work.

Need more - Then go get an Italian import Aprilia RX Tuareg 125cc with 33bhp giving you 100Mph in a heartbeat with a powerband that will stain your boxers for life.

Not so much of a bargain, it's only two hundred quid less than a brand new CG125, hundred and fifty quid less than a ybr, a ton less than an EN125.

£200 off of the Hyosung version as well.

Oh come on you're hardly going to turn heads on a CG, YBR or EN are you. They all scream "Learner" and thats never a good thing.

Now i'm not saying the RMR is gonna turn heads, but given the choice (personal preference again by the way) of riding a supermoto RMR or a YBR, CG or EN then i'd take the RMR every day of the week.

At least on the RMR you look like your at least trying to ride a decent bike (trying to). On any of the others you just look like you got lost in the middle of your CBT and have wandered into real traffic.

CG isnt a bad bike; after all its used the world over and probably one of the most common training school rides. It's just not very high on the pretty scale and has no "WoW" factor at all.

If you want to compare it to anything, compare it to the DT125X supermoto, or even the Derbi Senda SM. Which cosmetically at least is a similar bikes. Different price range, different quality and performance too of course. But side by side there's not much between them cosmetically.

Ok - I'm going to stop banging on about these RMR bikes, as i dont work for the company and dont want to set myself up as a spokesman for them (Unless of course they are offering a free bike).

And that's nothing to do with the sodding great red L under the numberplate then? Wink

For a first bike, looks really really aren't as important as it...

a) Working every single time you use it and...
b) Not ruining your life when you drop it and it gets dented. A CG will laugh at dents. A sports style or off-road learner bike will look crap with big scrapes down the side.

I don't know much about RMR, in fact I'd never heard of them before this thread, and that's the problem: They're an unknown quantity. Yours may be great for the entire time you have it but then die for the next owner three days after they've bought it. A CG will likely be good for twenty different owners and do the job that's asked of it over and over again.

And back to your quote, what's "not a good thing" about looking like a learner if you are a learner? You're still only doing 60mph whether you have a flashy bike or not...

the only heads you'll turn with the RMR are when other bikers are shaking them at your poor choice of bike. what's wrong with looking like a learner? we all have to start somewhere. I'm proud of my CG. I researched alot of bikes, thought it to be the best value and logical step towards a bigger bike. not trying to look like something I'm not.

thing is, the RMR won't work every day of the week if you catch my drift. a CG, YBR or EN will.

LMFAO. you just look like you're trying to be cool whilst other bikers lol @ your idiotic choice of bike.

CG isn't a bad bike? it's better than an RMR, any day of the week Wink No it's not pretty but it does what it says on the tin and that's why people love em.

LMAO. so you basically admit they look the same but that's where the similarities end.

giving them away? that's a price i may be interested in then.

and this has been bugging me for a while but...superbyke? the name makes me cringe. couldn't the company think of a more sincere name?
