Got my Arai back from repairs a week ago, and now the rubber trim around the outside of the helmet has come loose.

I have to say it's the most shockingly built helmet I've ever owned, and it cost £330. What a pathetic waste of money, so in order of appearance:

* Chin guard splits after first week of wearing the helmet
* Air vents become detached from the top of the helmet, revealing that they're stuck on with double sided sticky tape
* Plastic vent fallen off of visor at speed whilst closing vent
* Rubber side skirt parts company with the rim of the helmet

Annoyed, to say the least.

What Arai is that then?

I've been really happy so far *touch wood* with my Condor...

Confused

What make Arai do you have? It sounds like you've been pretty unlucky overall to have all those faults with the same helmet, regardless of make. Crying or Very sad

I have a Condor, which set me back about 200 quid. I have had a few problems with it but only from dropping it which is my own fault anyway. The top vent comes off very easily, and then I dropped it on a forecourt and the side case came off which holds the visor on. And a bit had snapped off so it no longer shut securely.

I'm going to try and get the bits from Arai and see how it goes, how was the service dealing with your problems?

Service were great, Phoenix Distribution are a great bunch of people and to be honest the only decent thing going with regards to customer service I got when I bought this helmet.

It's a Viper GT, so one of the top end ones, and I'm really careful with it, so don't understand.

And my £30 helmet is still going strong (and amazingly comfy) after a year.

Just shows - more expensive is not always better Laughing

Sounds like a lemon of a lid, I use my Arai day in day out without fail, only issue I've had was breaking a side pod. Unlucky Sad

I've owned my Condor for two years come November, dropped it a few times and the build quality is superb.
My dad has just replaced a slightly more upmarket 4 year old Quantum i f with a condor, and thats still great, only just lost the front chin trim and after a bath is allmsot like new.

Took the old visor off it and replaced it with the standard visor I had left after I put a legal tint on my lid.
I tried to shoot the old one with a Co2 pistol and its totally resiliant! Shocked

I've had my Arai Chaser for about 3 months now, and I love it. It's comfy, stylish and the build quality is excellent. I've been told the vent and side pods etc are all designed to come off in an accident to enable your head to slide and not catch on anything.

I love the visor system. I love the side-pods.

The only problem I have is air leaking in through the chin vent, even when closed, it's not nice on a cold night! The vents are intact though - might have to send it back to pheonix for that one.

when was the helmet made?

look on the chin strap and under the orange tag there should be a small white tag with a month and year stamp.

It has been know with big retail stores that buy in bulk as soon as they come off the production line and leve them sat either in cold store rooms or out on display, where the temp is constantly changing which can begin to damage glues making them less effective, but in the rare ocasions i heard of it happening the helmets were also 3+ years old, which if yours is a viper then its unlikely to be.
Saying that it is rare that we ever heard of it happening and as youve seen phoenix sort it out without too much hassle.

Does sound a bit like you got a lemon Sad
