So far I have only found one exhaust that will fit my bike. Its supposed to be loud as fuck but I can't find anything else that will fit and look good. the only other option is getting one made.

Whats the law if it doesn't have 'NOT FOR ROAD USE' on it. The can I might buy does have it but I will soon get rid of that. I don't need my bike for work (and it's a good job as I leave at 5.30am) but I do for college. Should I bother. I really want to but don't want to be pulled over all the while or keep getting fines.

This is the exhaust

Please be aware that this silencer is exceptionally loud and is not legal for road use. It may also be way over limit for many track day excursions where a strict decibel limit is enforced.

its ifs way over the limit for track use you may find your self with problems.just don't hammer it past the police

Depends really, if find loud bikes amusing then go for it Smile

My ZXR has a 'not for road use' scorpion on it, and a rust hole, and I love the way it sounds. It's only annoying when I want to talk to a pillion.

If you don't like the noise then you might aswell stay legal and find one thats a bit more sane.

Just don't redline it neer any rozzers Wink

If it's deemed too loud by the MOT inspector it could fail a MOT.

Didn't know riding a bike that early was wrong, Used to start work at 4.30am and loved the quiet roads.

Think he meant about pissing off the neighbors.

And my dad's bike has a not for road use micron, he's been pulled and they didn't even check.

Yeah mainly about the neighbours. I love riding early in the morning and have got up at 5ish on a Sunday just to go for a ride.

With the MOT the tester would probably let me off (known my dad for years and me for a few) but I could put the standard one back on for a day.

I think I'm gonna get it set up as my bike spends a lot of time flat out once I'm in NSL.

Yeah my sigs up to date but it doesn't say NC30 on it lol. That's what the pipe was originally designed for but they are universal if you have the right link pipe diameter. You can tell them if you want the tyga tag on the left or right.

A 250 can be quite loud, but shouldn't be as ridiculous as a big single or twin; you should be able to quieten it down at low revs.

Do think about how much you're happy to annoy others. Pretty out of order to have a loud can and be using it at 'bed' times to my mind; though I have done so myself in the past.

That exhaust is more obviously a 'loud' ones; I've never had a problem with police before myself. Lots of new bikes do have similar looking exhausts, though.
Could always consider getting a link pipe made up to allow a different exhaust to fit.

I do try to be quite considerate to my neighbours. Normally I will pull up on my drive open the garage and ride the bike in but if its late or early I switch it off and push it in.

The bike is normally fitted with 4 into 2 downpipes but has been fitted with FZR 4 into 1 pipes. Only one of the original 2 end cans is fitted now. The down pipes have an EXUP valve which I can open or close in a few seconds and makes a noticeable difference but is not connected to the bike like it would be on an FZR. Closing it might quiet it down a bit for when I need it to be quiet.

The word 'silencer' and 'Moto Maggot' should not be used in the same sentence. It's a straight pipe and it's absolutely deafening.

Even riding your bike for short periods of time will give you tinnitus.

It's also louder than the limit for most trackdays, so completely useless IMO.

I think I'm gonna get one. I wear ear plugs at the moment but will see how loud it is. At least its only £100 if I decide I don't want it. I might look for a second hand one on all the 400 forums.

Hi

Personally a bit load is fine. You can take it easy. Hideously load is pretty dodgy.

Get something made up. You shouldn't have a problem finding someone local to do it.

All the best

Last night the exhaust went really loud. Its hard to explain but there is a bracket thing on the exhaust. That has blew off leaving about a 2x2 inch hole which is before the baffling. It was loud but I could live with it. Is that about how loud the Maggot would be. Will try starting it up without the can on later (can is off as its getting welded later) to see how loud it is.
