Im using Vista home premium on my laptop, when I try and download anything be it programme or picture the object ive downloaded dissapears.

Ive tried downloading to various places on the laptop, desktop, downloads etc but each time the same thing happens!

Any Ideas anyone? Im a complete twit when it comes to pc's so any help would be appreciated.

what browser are you using?

what are you downloading AVG? is it because you might think your already infected with something?



or it might just be possible that all known file types are being hidden. easily fixed.

press your windows key + E together to bring up an explorer window. then tools, folder options, view tab, you'll then see which box's you need to tick.

More Vista sh!te, a known issue that the MS scumbags couldn't give a fvck about.

Use Firefox instead of IE and your problem will be solved.

Nah I dont think im infected, just used AVG on my last PC and it worked well.

This laptop came with norton pre installed on a 30 day trial and I dont want to pay for it now.

Trouble is its not letting me download Firefox either. Gah.

Find the folder that is named after your user-ID, your downloads should be in there.

Try running the System File Checker (sfc /scannow). You do it from the command prompt, which you need to launch in admin mode, before typing the bit in bold above.
