I think there is so much diversity in the world of motorcycles and especially within the lifestyles...
I allways hear people talk of nostalga and "Yeh those Bonnevilles etc, they are REAL bikes, not like todays modern computer driven, covered in plastic toys!"

But then you get the predujdice against the smaller bikes aswell, like the 125's etc yet returning to riding them is actually quite a humbling and joyous experience.
There is even such divide in the world of bigger bikes where handling and the riding experiance are sacrificed for all out power.

The question I put forward is, hoping to hear many thoughtfully laid out points of view from many of you, of all walks of life, experience, age and ability: Just what do you consider to be a MOTORBIKE?

How's that a definition of a bike? If it was parked up how would you know it was ridden by a chav? It would still have an engine and two wheels.

For me, and it might sound really random, the real definition of a motorbike is a place where I can just hit the road and not have to think about any of the day to day sh*t that stresses me out. Somewhere I only have to think about the next corner and how to get round it. Embarassed

In my eyes yes. It's a real bike with a small engine.

Precisely.

You had to swing your leg over to mount it, therefore it's a real bike.

See mixed opinions. It had a gearbox, clutch, foot operated rear brake and wasn't a scooter.

Only kidding mate, it is a proper bike.
In my eyes, if its got gears that you can change manually and has a foot operated brake (disabled adaptions also ect..)

I hope to hear more of this sort of an answer.
I would consider an RS50 to be a real bike, just not one that I would ever buy Thumbs Up

Not a step through.

Not a twist and go.

Not a Hardly Movingson or any other cruiser.

That is all.

Anything with two wheels and an engine. Doesn't matter to me what shape or size one should be in.

I'm planning going touring next year with some friends, I'm in half a mind to go on something deliberately unsuitable; maybe a C90.

Something ridden by someone who considers themselves a biker. Peds, step-thoughs, chinese cheese crates, we all start somewhere.

If we're talking in the manner of a "real man's bike"; something that scares you. And not because you're a wuss, or riding a cruiser.

(Politically incorrect night in the G household.)

Old New it doesnt matter really i think it all depends on the mood of the day, week or month for me and the type of ride your looking for at the time. Fun stupid quick lark maybe a step through, open road maybe a sport type or for long travel a cruiser.
Hey we all like bikes its just that we have a mixed view on what we like, all our tastes will change over the years and when we get older the bikes of today will be real bikes.
