SO,

Me and the missus are sitting having sitting having a glass of wine outside a bar today and hear the distinct sound of a bike I look round. what to I see but 3 arseholes on bikes 1 must be 17 as he had a CB125 wearing A Tshirt and trackies then his 2 16/17 year old mates on 50's with one in shorts wheeling up with his feet on the ground.

Dont get me wrong getting a bike young is great I wish I did, but the way these idiots were acting made me want to get up and lay them out and save the tarmac the trouble!

The kid on the 125 flew up to the junction which is on the main street in Aberdeen and its a badly designed one and slams on his front brake, skids on the front wheel then turns to the other 2 and gives the thumbs up while looking behind him and reving the bike.

the other 2 then rev and rev while moving further and further into the cycle box in a line, the lights change theres a yellow box junction in front and they try and nip in front of an A6 which has to put it brakes on to let one pass otherwise he would be over the bonnet!

Would I have been such a tit when I was 16/17 I seriously hope not!

Maybe I would have but I would know now it could kill me or hurt someone else, no offense if your a young driver and are responsible. Thumbs Up

If your the sort who reads this and get offended, SORT IT OUT!!!

your going to hurt yourself or someone else! remember your CBT only shows the basics I know that, and thats all i've done. Dont give bikers a bad name and dont get yourself nailed over the bonnet of someone so I need to shake my head over my morning coffee.

Rules of the road drive defensive and be safe.....
Evil or Very Mad
rant over.

Kev

While that's true, younger riders/drivers make the most as it's in their mentality to take risks without thinking of the consequences of their actions, I know cos I had a few daft moments when I first started driving cars thinking I was Nigel Mansel or Colin Macrae (R.I.P).
You see these young kids in their boy racered Corsas, saxos and the likes, always makes me laugh, no offence. I get these boy racers pulling along side me at lights etc when I'm in my car ( a meaty 2.5 V6) and goading me to race them, I laugh and shake my head and in all honesty wouldn't waste my petrol or encourage them.
You also get the older EGO freaks in EVO's and Scooby's proving that their car is faster than yours in a straight line, WTF do I care, I know you're faster then me?

The same is said for bikes too, the younger ones take insane risks and the older ones "sometimes" can have a bit of an ego frenzy Laughing

I saw a youngish kid with tracky bottoms and a hooded top knee down coming off a tight roundabout and thought what a fucking muppet, I hope you put your knee cap through the back of your leg, if he'd lost control it would have been messy as there was a queue of oncoming traffic and the road off the roundabout wasn't the widest Shocked

I'm all for skillfull riding Matthie but this was just dangerous, there were cars with kids in on the opposite lane and the lad wasn't too far from becoming an unwanted passenger in one of them. If the roads around are clear and your only putting yourself at risk then fine but when you could potentially end someone elses life then it's a different matter altogether.

Total bullshit, and you know it. Laughing
The older vaturnity have the power to be able to do much more dangerous manovures. As a general rule the bikes are heavier too.
Id rather get a ped hit me than a thou.

Other day i was filtering home, and i hear a deep tone bike, look round to see a suzuki 600 crosser on its back wheel going past me at over 60 as i couldnt keep up by the time i was gunning it for my 50, coming up to a junction, he locks up the rear with smoke pouring out, i then filter past him at next junction, he wernt no spring chicken..

I advise everyone who want to laught their asses of come to plymouth and just sit in city centre for 10-15 mins, you'll see so many of them that you'll loose a count... Then there are a gangs of 5-10 ppl on bikes 50-125 who just race around town and piss everyone off revving their hoovers. At this points i just laught at them every time i see them, thought they think they're 'WELL COOL'

So where is the skill in getting your knee down on a roundabout, or how do you define it as cool.....

If you want to do something like that do it in a safe place like a track, where you won't endanger anyone else and at least wear the correct gear.
Just think how much it would cost the NHS to pick up the pieces and repair his knee.....

Yes, i may be old and boring, but i'm still allive.. What odds will you get on you reaching my age, without a serious crash.. Laughing

Old or young it comes down to the "attitude to risk" element of riding. There are plenty of older idiots on the road but I would say more younger ones.

Been there and done it, young, impressionable, risk taker for the mates or girls. Over confidence is dangerous at any age but as you get older its easier to spot it and be more wary of the stupidity of upcoming actions and stop.

This was discussed on the 30mph thread, stats show that the younger you are the more likely an accident.

But of course there are plenty of younger folks out there who are focussed on the rest of their life and not just the weekend stunts.

When I watch youtube vids of 30 somethings riding like utter c***s all I can say is go ahead, your old enough and likely experienced enough to know better but just make sure there is nobody about when your doing it so your the only one involved in the ensuing accident.

With younger ones its a bit different, yes they are as bad, yes they are cocky lilttle shits but most are just not beyond the testostorone enraged stage to get to rational thought and think about what might happen until its too late.

Yeah, I read about that, nasty one and just complete stupidity in all places union st!

I come from Aberdeen and now live in Glasgow. We used the beach front for our meeting place and I remember it was as bad.

I stayed in a village called Pitmedden and then problem with an area like that was that there was nothing to do so we used the bikes to create entertainment.

It means that statistically people in my age bracket cost insurance companies less money.

They don't believe that just because they want to, but because they have the best accident data of anyone and thats what the data tells them.

As the saying goes - all the gear, no idea

Erm....not too sure really, I didn't get any problems.

My guess is you'd get problems on the more 'famous' tracks such as Donington/Silverstone etc.

The aftermath of the incident in Aberdeen

Two teenagers who injured several people when their motorbike crashed into a crowd at a parade in Aberdeen have been detained for five years.

Lewis Westlake-Tritton, 17, who was at the controls, earlier admitted driving the bike erratically.

Graeme Hunter, 18, was found guilty of culpable and reckless conduct, at the Torcher Parade in April.

Westlake-Tritton and Hunter were detained for three and two years respectively at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.

Sheriff Graeme Buchanan said anyone who had seen the CCTV video of the incident would have been "shocked and horrified".

Police pursuit

He said: "It was absolutely clear that an accident of some kind was inevitable.

"As a result of this accident, a number of people suffered serious injuries which are likely to cause them difficulties for a lengthy period of time.

"There is really no alternative for me other than impose a custodial sentence."

The Honda 125 crashed after racing through the streets of Aberdeen with police cars in pursuit, before the annual parade on 26 April.

Hunter (left) was a passenger, with Westlake-Tritton at the controls

The trial heard how the motorbike hit the side of a van and ploughed into a crowd which had gathered to watch the event.

It landed on an 11-year-old boy, leaving him badly hurt, while others were knocked to the ground and were too injured to get up.

Minutes before, driver Westlake-Tritton was seen speeding through the streets pursued by police cars.

Hunter claimed he was a passenger and could not be held accountable for the driver's actions.

But the jury of 10 women and five men took 75 minutes to find him guilty, by majority verdict.

'Suicidal maniacs'

Hunter sat in the middle of the bike and another youth, who cannot be named, was at the back.

The trio raced up and down the city's main shopping street, carrying out dangerous U-turns and driving up the road into the face of oncoming traffic.

The pursuing police vehicles were stood down because the incident posed a danger to the public.

During the trial, Hunter and his friends were described by one witness as "suicidal maniacs".

The cancellation of Aberdeen's Torcher Parade due to the crash could have cost local charities up to £10,000 in donations, it was estimated.

Aberdeen University Students' Association said about £5,000 was raised, rather than the £15,000 target
