More stories of horror about my local Honda dealer;

As you may have read before, a mate took his NSR in to get his fork seals done there, and supplied the fork seals. Turns out he had the the wrong ones, but instead of ordering the right ones (they could see they were wrong after taking the visibly bigger old ones), they put the wrong ones in. Of course they went almost immediately, so the b*stards charged him almost another £200 to put it right.

Saw him at the weekend, and he told me he had just paid over £500 for a top end rebuild. That's bad enough, but when he picked up the bike, he found;

Bolts still loose under the headlight fairing
Big wobbly drill scratch on the front mudguard
Big chunk of fairing missing (down by where your fits sits on the peg)
Heated handgrips not working anymore.

They spun him some nonsense and apologised for the damage, and said that his fairing was very rare, and they couldn't source him one...so..er..sorry about that....kthanxbye.

I couldn't believe he'd handed the money over, so i sent him back and told him to get them to quote on how much it would cost to find and fit a new mudguard and fairing (even if they couldn't get hold of one immediately) and fix the heated grips.

And then, however much it costs, tell them that in that case, that was how much they owed him. As they probably will argue, i suggested that he go straight to the CAB and Trading Standards, and threaten bad publicity in the local rag too.

What a bloody cheek, eh? Rolling Eyes

You take bike in to get fixed, get charged over the odds and then find your bike has lost a couple of hundred in value because their poxy mechanics are totally and utterly useless.

Also, the very same dealers, according to a neighbour, took in his friend's bike to work on. They tried to call the owner to let him know the work was finished, but couldn't get hold of him. Instead of waiting till they could, and keeping the bike secure in the workshop, they decided to leave the bike out in the front yard overnight, and then the bike was nicked.

They denied any responsibility, and even worse, couldn't produce his keys, so it looks like they probably left it out with the keys in, but unbelievably they still deny any responsibility and he's having to take the whole matter to court.

It really is a wonder that they're still in business.

Incidentally, for anyone in this area who needs a decent job done, go to King's Two Wheel Centre, they're a lot lot better.
