XBOX HTU failed

Hi guys


XBOX live wont connect at the moment, all of a sudden, for no reason i can see.

Did the xbox checks, and apparently the HTU failed.

Now I know what this is, so I jumped into my router, (where a laptop and desktop PC were still working perfectly with the internet - its just the xbox, thats connected via ethernet cable to the router/modem)

Its a Belkin ADSL router (please no flames, I couldnt afford better at the time ) but its been fine so far.


We've recently upgraded to a faster internet service, but no changes were made, and its all been working fine on the new service for at least 2/3 weeks. Running the laptop/desktop and xbox through the router.

However, the belkin doesnt have the option to change the HTU to 1364, as recommended by microsoft.

I only have the option to change it to between 1400-1454. Bad times?


Anyways, any advice would be appreciated.
