...so i'm thinking 'I need to get away' lately down to a few personal reasons and the crappy weather (although not sure if i can get away from that if i'm not going too far...)... and always wanted to just p*ss off somewhere preferably abroad maybe for a couple or few days by my lonesome with the bike.

Anyone have any good suggestions for where I should go?

I was thinking Paris, but then wanted something a bit more rural.. somewhere like Bologne- or is that too 'easy'?

All ideas welcome and appreciated. Thanks

How much riding out of London have you done? There are plenty of great routes in the UK, though as you say weather is a factor. If I was you I'd be tempted to go up through lincolnshire, cross the penines (maybe spend a couple days there) and then go down through Wales. See what the long range forcasts are saying. We've had a good week or two of lovely weather down in the SW, and I've heard its been similar in the midlands.

Suggestions? - book ferry ticket, check bike, pack passport and credit card, print out list of cheap hotels (here is as good as any https://www.hotel-bb.com/ )

go

Job done, you dont really need any more planning than that, especially if you are going on your own.

HTH and have a good time Very Happy

I went to savigny-les-beaune earlier this year (by car though - needed the boot for the crates of wine!).

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=savigny-les-beaune&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl

Drove the wonderful french motorways all the way there (they're almost worth the toll) - got there by 6pm after setting off from buckinghamshire. Took the back roads on the way back, also cool and picturesque. The village itself is very rural, a good campsite (signposted) and good restaurants, hotels and wineries.

It's near dijon too which is worth a look. As is Reims on the way back

I don't think riding around Paris will be much of a holiday, and expect the weather will be the same as here?

I did trip myself a few weeks ago - but I stayed in the UK as I'm in the West Midlands - plus it was the weekend of the Tunnel fire so getting out of the country was going to be more of a pain.

Decided to go down through Wales, across the Severn bridge, Down the M5 a bit then round the Atlantic Highway, all the way around and down the coast from Bridgwater (Via Exmour) to Newquay. Next day from Newquay to a few inland places and lots of coastal places and Lands end. Headed back north for a bit via Bodmin then crossed dartmoor and stayed in Torquay. Then from Torquay went up to exeter and headed through the countryside till I got till Cheddar Gorge which I rode up and down a few times. After that I decided to jump back on the M5 that took me most of the way home. I didn't really plan the route although I did use the Sat Nav for parts of it which helped, and just stopped in B&B's that had vacancies.

Was a really enjoyable few days - only bad bit was Lands end that seemed to have it own weather system. There was a massive rideout going on that sunday as well - looked it up when I got back in there was 1200 bikes - I was going the other way on the road - it was pretty mental!
