It would seem that they don't necessarily need to see your plate on the speed camera to do you for it... Unless he was silly enough to go through one the wrong way, that is. I guess they must have tracked the bike with CCTV, easy enough to do I guess if you make a big enough nuisance of yourself Laughing

Yeah I think 39 points and a 18 month ban is a bit excessive

Or did he get the ban for going over 12 points?

They were going to let it slide and let him off with a slap on the wrist, but apparently he'd taken his restrictors out Wink

They check their database for that model bike in the area then turn up at your door, as one of my mates found out for doing the same thing. He denied it so the police waited at the camera the next week and caught him.
Cant say he didn't deserve it though because he rode like a cock most of the time, this was at another camera in southampton.

Makes you wonder at the intelligence of some people.....

They knock at your door and fine you deny it, but should that not warn you that they are out to get someone, so you should be taking it easy Embarassed

He'd obviously had enough of motorcycling as he's just given his licence away.

And 82mph on one wheel in a 30 mph zone isn't at all excessive is it.

18 months is sod all...lifetime ban would've been more appropriate.

The worrying line in that article is this one...

"It is expected that the points will be wiped from his licence once he has served his ban. "

Right-o...so say I got 3 points from a fixed camera (35 in a 30)I could expect a £60 fine and for the points to remain on my licence for 4 years...yet had I wheelied, travelled at more than 80mph and shown a blatant disregard for the law all the point's I'd accrued would then be wiped out after 18 months.

Then there's this chestnut right at the bottom...

"This case should send out a clear message that such reckless riding will not be tolerated."

Had they taken a hard line, zero tolerance stance and banned him for life then yes, maybe some would think twice. But they didn't and in 18 months he'll have a clean licence and be free to do it all over again...which positively screams "toleration."

The points are irrelevant whether or not they stay on his licence or not because the next time he goes for insurance they are going to ask if he has been banned in the last 5 years or so to which he will say that he was banned and when they ask why he will have to declare that he has a total of 6 SP50 convictions and then one CD10 conviction from 18 months ago.

It is at this point that the insurance company will giggle ad either tell him to feck off or ask whether he would like to pay by monthly instalments or by anal shafting.
