Not expecting a huge amount of love for this as its not a sportsbike and it has 'challenging' looks, but bought a Versys last week and just got back from a 220 mile ride so thought I'd post a few pics.

Love the bike - the specs look crap but Kawasaki have really built a fantastic 'real world' bike. Its all-day comfy, light weight, has all the power where you most use it and above all is just really good fun to ride. Really enjoyed todays ride - handles B roads like a supermoto, does 60mpg and has a range of about 200 miles. Perfect bike for me as I can go for a blast or on a decent tour.

Some people think I'm mad to go from a GSXR750 to this, but I've never been one to follow the crowd really, and whilst the 750 was awesome on the right road, it was literally painful on all the others!

Interestingly, as devils bridge today, the Versys got loads of attention - far more than any of my other bikes have had, partly because people just dont know what they are, even though they have been selling really well in europe and have been named Motorcycle of the Year by one of the big US magazines.

I've got a few mods planned for it:

Ixil exhaust - arriving monday - cost me £360 but sounds amazing:

Givi luggage system - arrives thursday hopefully,

GPS bracket - puts the GPS behind the screen so in perfect line of sight

Hugger - Ermax do a nice one thats colour matched to the Kwak green

Belly pan - as above - these really improve the lines of the bike

Handguards - not sure which ones to go for

Heated grips - On order

Anyway, heres a few pics from the ride I went on today around the dales and lake district:

I like it also, certainly no uglier than the latest sports bikes.

These sort of bikes seem to make sense for our roads Thumbs Up

Too true.

Mainstream is quickly becoming mundane in my eyes but I wont be so bold as to say that I like it, different yes but still pointing at it as it rides past shouting 'OMFG what the hell is that'.
