Vista to XP network with Livebox

I just got a new computer running Vista. I was intending on just putting my old HD in it and moving the files, but they have different connectors.

I do have a Wanadoo livebox so I could make a network. How do I do that? The old comp is on XP. Do I need to share drives, configure ip addresses, play with firewalls and stuff like that?

If you get the two networked (fairly easy), just share the entire drive. Vista will then be able to access it as \\COMPNAME\SHARENAME.
