Drying leather motorcycle gloves

Morning peeps - in your experience - what is the best way of drying out soaking wet leather m/c gloves in the shortest time, without cracking the leather?

I use a radiator at home, or if at work we have one of those wee convector heaters so just turn that on and put the gloves aobut a foot in front of it and let the air blow inside.

cheers, just on my cbt yesterday my instructor said whatever you do , dont dry them on a radiator , it will crack the leather, so ive put them on the clothes maiden and theyre still soaking wet and cold this morning. suppose i could get another pair so ive got 2 on the go

I always use waterproof textile gloves when I ride in the wet, If leather gloves get wet you can stuff them with newspaper, but remember to change the paper regularly, I have also used a hairdryer to dry them quickly.

Stuff the gloves with kitchen towel , wrap around a couple of towels and leave a distance away from the radiator; i.e. a foot. The heat wont be directly transferred to the leather so you'll be fine.

Failing that, if you're in an extreme emergency - shove it in the microwave!

Personally I dry mine out slowly, usually after removing the initial excess, I then leave them in the garage where it's nice and airy.

Put them on a newspaper in a warm(but not hot) and airy
location. Every 4 hours or so I wear them for a minute or so
whilst flexing my fingers and hands, so the gloves retain their
shape as they dry.

Airing cupboard FTW (if you have one)

Stick my leather jacket in there too. Dry by the morning and not damaged at all. Perfect.

If they get all dried out, give them a good fondling with some baby oil.

jus put it on the radiator, but once you put them on again theyll be really stiff! also watch out, coz sometimes, if they arent totally dry, they give off a terrible smell!

Put some 'Bounce' tumble dryer sheets inside your gloves and leave them on the windowsill above the radiator. The sheets keep them soft, conditioned and smelling very fresh.

If you have goretex gloves, do NOT put them on a radiator, it'll melt the goretex membrane, and they won't be waterproof anymore!

I fucked up a good pair of gloves this way. Luckily i got the shop to replace them, *before* i said "hmm, what happens if you put them on the radiator? i heard it can..."

To which the guy replied "Oh man, you put thm on the radiator didn't you? You dick, you've melted the goretex."

another vote for the airing cupboard

if the leather is losing its suppleness, there are loads of cleaners/protectors out there. Nikwax is my fave one - waterproofs as well.

spray them with ~Mr.Sheen or Pledge, or anything like that, then hang them up to dry, above a radiator.

Actually I mostly weat leather, excpet for my gloves.

I give mine a quick spray of baby oil then wrap them in an old town and put them on the radiator. Dries them out and the oil keeps them supple.
