Right as many of you know I got hit on the TDM, currently I have a hire bike and the claim is on going. Now the only key damage is a bent wheel bent forks a snapped exhaust hanger and a hole in a coolant hose. There is loads of superfical damage to the TDM and it will be written off.

I have a hire bike, I want to get the TDM back on the road, if I get all the major damage fixed so it is ridable and give the hire bike back what will happen to my claim? Will I still be insured? What happens when they write the bike off? I(all this is assuming it goes 100% my way which it should.)

As I understood it, once they pay out for the bike, your insurance agreement with them is null and void. Probably says something to this effect in the T&C. So you'd need to get it re-insured, but you'd probably have trouble doing it with the same insurance company seeing as they wrote it off in the first place.

Hmm. Not sure then. If I were you I'd ring up your insurer and ask them. Just say 'hypothetically if I were to..." and then explain what you want to do. You could even ring the other insurer to try and get the same info out of them (prob more relevant if they are the ones paying out).

If your worried about it jeapordising your claim then try not to give any details to them about who you are when you ring.

Also try to be nice as pie to the person on the phone, build up a rapport and they'll more than likely give you the info you want.

Thats what I'd do anyway.

£300 or so

£135 for the fork straightening £15 for a collant hose, X for an exhaust hanger and X or a wheel straightening.

There is a fair bit of cosmetic damage but I ill sort that in the summer if I get the speed four back and send a load of panels to be bulk sprayed.

I'm over the moon Laughing

Just remember when you come to sell it on, it will show as a write off. So even if it looks mint and you have returned it to its former glory, it will be worth much less (providing someone checks of course).

So don't go blowing all the money on sherbert dib-dabs and Bulgarian midget hookers just yet.

TBH I dont plan to sell it, at least not for a meaningfull amount.

I just spent £500 on a service and £100 on a new clutch.

This bike is perfect for what I need it for, so I'm keeping it till it goes bang.
